Laura Kalmari has signed with AIK Shocked Leaving DIF/Älvsjö to join the newcomer in damallsvenskan. AIK has now signed with Jessica Julin, Sanna Valkonen, Sofia Lundgren, Madelene Göras, Sofia Simonsson and Linda Lekander. They are getting a pretty descent team! Cool

I may be wrong but dosen't that mean that almost half the Finland WNT plays in AIK and Bällinge?

It's just 3 players in AIK and Makinen in Bällinge Wink (or are there more Finns in Bällinge?)
But they are indeed Finland's key players.
Well, if that makes them happy, to stick together and win together, so be it Smile

I had to check how many finns there are in Bälinge. Last season they had Heidi Matinlassi and Minna Mustonen. This season they have signed Anne Mäkinen, Petra Vaelma and Katri Nokso-Koivisto.
I think Mustonen will go to the US this year, so it looks like Bälinge will have four finns this season.
Add AIK's, and you do have more than half of the finnish national team playing in the Stockholm area Laughing

It will be interesting to see what kind of an impact they will have. Now they are the stars of their teams, so it's up to them to deliver the good stuff. Cool Personally I don't think they will Cool

One thing we've forgotten about: Makinen is no longer in the Finland squad Sad

Yep Mäkinen quit. I think that will be a real challange for the finns to find a new player with her qualities. I wonder IF the WUSA starts in 2008, if Mäkinen will sign for a team there?
It do sounds like it will start, but how many teams there will be, or what players they will sign on, well that we have to wait for.
I'm sure the one's that has played there before will be contacted, since I guess they would want names people might still remember. Therefore, I'm not so worried about damallsvenskan losing too many players. The big names like Marta, Ljungberg, Mäkinen, I'm sure will go. But we will still have a pretty decent league.

Why are you so sure that Ljungberg will go?
She didn't go before did she?

The Finns are taking over Stockholm Smile maybe should rename the area?! Razz

I think AIK will have a big impact this season, for a newly promoted side - Kalmari - Julin - Valkonen - Lundgren will all have a great understanding together.

Does anyone know when the game schedule is released? I think LFC's first game is against KGFC.

Because Ljungberg can't win anything more with UIK Cool She has won everything there is on a club level. And with her reputation I am sure she will get a decent pay-check going pro in the US Wink
Not sure when WUSA closed down but I think she thought she was a little too young and didn't wanted to take the chance, simple as that.

I wish the UIK v Arsenal game was nearer Stockholm too,
I wouldn't have to up North and maybe I'd get to attend an AIK or Bällinge game Wink
Maybe I will anyway - where's that Damall schedule?? Twisted Evil

Dunno where the Damall sched is, thats why I asked - I just read somewhere about LFC v KGFC as the first game for LFC on the 11th of April.

If what im attempting to read is right then KGFC (11th April, home), UIK (22nd April, home), DIF (away) are the first three games for LFC

Is it like the Community Shield in England?

The FA Cup (Svenska Cuppen) Champions vs the League Champions?

Yes, apparently they have the same in much of the southern european countries (at least for the men's sides) and they call it the Supercup, this is the first in Sweden.
