Gutted. But I can accept this loss more than the one on the first leg because at least now we lost because of their players instead of us beating ourselves. The own goal definitely came back to haunt us for sure. Good fight till the end for Liverpool, but Chelsea was just too good on defense to let a two goal lead slip especially at home.
If there was one person who had to step up it was Riise. He has to exorcise the demons of that own goal but he did absolutely nothing productive... AND he let Anelka slip away to open up the Drogba goal. Unlucky Skrtel got injured so early on. That was definitely a sub wasted. Definitely disappointed with how the game went and how we had a difficult time unlocking the defense. Benayoun would have been my Man of the Match for Liverpool by a mile, but all of the lads definitely left it all on the field and went down swinging. Don't understand why Pennant was placed in though. You'd think Babel would be the one who'd fill in at the wing and Crouch up front. That's the only questionable thing about the strategy I saw... All else was left to the lads to make something happen and with Skrtel getting injured early on and with Riise being a waste of space, can't really say much. Fair play to Chelsea and a deserved 2nd leg win. On to Moscow now. For one time only... let me say... GET IN Manchester United!!! UNITED!!! UNITED!!! |
