And what a counter attack by United in the first half, beautifully floated long ball by Rooney and Ronaldo whipped the ball across for Tevez to miss out on fractionally - that would have been thank you and goodnight.

If we're talking about missed chances then Chelsea could've scored the 2 shots which hit the post and crossbar.

Nah I wasn't talking about missed chances, just a fabulous sweeping move turning defence into attack.

I agree, they were terrible and look at Englands captain blowing his pleghm onto Tevez.

didnt mention it at the time as i was too busy discussing the actual football but i would like to highlight the usual assaults on the match official by the Chelsea players. John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho, Makelele, Drogba and J.Cole were the worst offenders. it is highly ironic that the only non arrogant, dignified and respectful man involved with Chelsea Football Club will likely not be there at the start of next season. they seem to crave this type of person. an arrogant whinger epitomises Chelsea and Grant is too good for them. the main gripe of him is his lack of 'charisma'. perhaps if he bitched and moaned like mourinho did he would have 'charisma'?

while i would have liked Grant to have won the trophy im glad Chelsea did not win it. in a footballing sense they probably deserved it but in a sporting sense they did not.

Ferguson got lucky and he knows it.

What the hell was John thinking?! Has he really lost all sense of reality that he's started blowing his nose onto people?!

And people laugh when i say i wouldn't want Mourinho as manager of Liverpool.

Guys, Mourinho is LONG GONE from Chelsea now, didn't you know? Avram Grant is now the manager. Yeah, I'm serious. Mourinho no more at Chelsea; Grant is now the boss. Got it now? Therefore, because Grant is the manager he should take responsibility (if anyone else has to) for controlling his players now. Not Mourinho, because he isn't there anymore to bellow orders. Penny dropped yet? It's not rocket science.

You guys can't lay John Terry's actions against Mourinho, that's ridiculous. The reality is that Terry must be mainly accountable for his own actions, but the Club must punish him for it to set the right example. That's the problem. Chelsea have already been pulled up for failing to control their players this season (both times under Grant's management, not Jose's) and yet they keep doing it. It's like they believe they are above the law. They must be made an example of.

Steely: why do you always go on about how dignified Grant is? It's a joke! He's every bit as guilty of whinging as Mourinho was. His comments after the Carling Cup final, and after Man Utd won the league were disgraceful.

What are you on about? Where have i laid blame on Mourinho?

Terry's 100% culpible for his actions but Mourinho moulded him that way - therefore the point stands that he'd have my side acting in a similar way if he was in charge. If Terry's stupid enough to act like he does then that is indeed his problem, but that's irrelevant to what i said about Mourinho.

I dunno you know, Terry has always 'had it in him'.
What with p*ssing up against bars, and getting off his trolley with Jody Morris & Co abusing grounded American tourists watching the events of 9/11 unfold in a hotel reception near Heathrow - he's always been 'the finished article' in that sense, never mind any guidance by the special one.

I'm annoyed because I had a big reply typed out to Ben's comments but my PC crashed. Luckily, you sum it up very well there Sparkster so no need! At least you're very aware of the type of guy John Terry is and was, prior to Mourinho.

On a different note, one thing that really annoys me is the media reaction to the game. Virtually every paper I've read has given Man Utd's manager and players higher ratings than Chelsea. For what? The thickness of a post? Because if JT scored that penalty do you think the papers would have still rated Man Utd better? Rubbish!! For my money, there wasn't anything in it. It was a thoroughly absorbing game, one that could have gone either way. Man Utd nearly blew Chelsea off the park in the first half then Chelsea stormed back and bossed the second half and looked more likely to score a winner. It was a toss of a coin job.

yes absolutely what i was thinking when reading the papers ......the papers are making out this Man Utd team thoroughly deserved the win ...Ronaldo finally did it on the biggest stage of alll .....what a great tribute to the Busby Babes .....blah blah ..

The fact is Man Utd were extremely lucky to win .....Chelsea were extremely unlucky to lose .....you just could not choose between them . The penalty shootout is always a lottery ....Man Utd just held their nerve better and Chelsea had one of those horror moments when John Terry slipped ...

If John Terry had scored ...Chelsea would have been getting the full on press acclaim and Man Utd would have been accused of blowing it ...Ronaldo probably bearing the brunt for his miss .

Chelsea deserved to win it was never a sending off and Anelka is the biggest sulker in the world

The sending off made no difference and EVERYONE in football knows that if you raise your hands to someone you are off.

It made A LOT of difference, it meant Terry had to take that penalty instead of Drogba. Who do you trust more? The top goal scorer or a footballingly challenged brute of a center half?

Penalties are completely based on luck, the team with the best penalty takers doesn't neccesarily or even usually win, it's a lottery, the cliche is right.

Had Drogba not been sending off we would effectively have had another lottery from the beginning rather than saying everything would have been the same up until the fifth penalty where Drogba would have scored.

Moreover Drogba is actually not a very good penalty taker, he doesn't take them normally and missed in the ACON when it mattered.

So its luck that Terry hit the post instead of 4 inches to the left? He bottled it plain and simple, nothing to do with luck when you dont even get the shot on target.

Drogba IMO would have scored it, ofcourse he might have missed but he would have had a lot better chance than Terry at getting it simply because hes taken penalties before and is a natural goalscorer.

ps. Heard a new song to sing to Terry next season.

You let Pat Lampard down
You let Pat Lampard down
You let Pat Lampard down
Terry!
You let Pat Lampard down
You let Pat Lampard down
You let Pat Lampard down
Terry!

It was an alright Final, wasnt as boring as some finals are, but granted wasnt the best final. Some of the football was a bit scrappy but i enjoyed it there were alot of chances just not taken especially from CArlos Tevez who should of had at least 2.
