It's Liverpool's final home game of the season Crying or Very sad & I for one will be expecting a good result here against an ailing City side with a manager who will be picking his P45 up in 2 weeks.

I expect Torres to bag a couple (I'll miss him in the off season, he's my hero)

4-0 to Liverpool.

On a side note, I'll be out on the p!ss after this game (It's tradition) so if you're down County Road, Liverpool... look me up Wink

I hope we see a strong team - the likes of Torres, Gerrard, Mascherano etc. but include some youngsters like Insua, Plessis and Nemeth. Especially the Argentine. It'd be a fantastic opportunity for them to mix with the first-teamers and see how they fare.

Yeah i'd like to see Nemeth and Insua play. Leto might get a game as well.

who cares....honestly, the game means nothing, the season's over for Liverpool...scoring against a weaker team doesn't mean anything(no offence to Man City intended). Liverpool are not the same team they once were and the manager continues to play the blame game about not having the right players etc...Liverpool's defence is horrendous!

Liverpool are pretty much safe for next years Champions League....so its not like a MUST win for the team. I'm willing to bet Voronin and Crouch will get some time in this game.

Personally as a Liverpool supporter i care about every game we play, and want to win every game we're contending for. But that's me.
I think it's important we make a strong finish to a slightly disappointing end to the season, but also give those players who usually wouldn't get a sniff (i.e. some hopeful reserves) a chance. This is an opportune moment to see them mixed amongst our best, and one Rafa should relish.

We need to bounce back - there's nothing to rest for now and so players who won't be here next year should not be involved, or definitely not started. There's no point (perhaps other than to tout them to other clubs).

Yeah i'd love Leto to get a game too. He looked really promising in the home leg of the Champions League qualifier versus Toulouse, but has been limited to the reserves. However, i've heard he has some problem to do with his passport at the moment, meaning he hasn't been able to play even for the reserves for a few weeks/months. I don't think he can play sadly.

it is true that the season is over for Liverpool now and the fans must be hurting a bit ...but like Ben91 true fans will still want their team to win every match regardless of what has gone before .

Liverpool are guaranteed 4th spot so the only incentive for the team is pride and to repay the fans for the loyalty and support shown throughtout the season ..

i`ll go for a 2-2 draw

Team i'd go for would be something like this:

----------------------------------Reina

-------Arbeloa-------Carragher---------Hyypia---------Insua

------------------------------Mascherano

----.--Gerrard-------------------------------------------Benayoun
-----------------------.-------...Lucas

---------------------------------------..---Babel
--------------------.----Torres

Subs: Itandje, San Jose, Alonso, Kuyt, Nemeth.

I assume Skrtel will be kept out of this from the injury sustained against Chelsea, so Hyypia and Carragher should start. That takes Arbeloa to right-back, and it's between Riise and Emiliano Insua for left-back. It's harsh on Riise because he's been a great player for us in past years, but his time is up and i'd definitely prefer Insua to have a go starting at the back than the Norwegian. He was quite assured against Birmingham, especially on the ball, and as i say it's a great opportunity for the likes of him to play with our best player.

As i've said before i think Lucas is best in an attacking midfield position and with Gerrard he's unlikely to get too many chances to show his true self - i'd love to see him have an opportunity to do that, with little in relation riding on this match, which basically means Gerrard should play on the right. Defensively i'd have Mascherano or Alonso to keep the side we're playing quite strong. Then on the left i'm not too fussed... i would have had Leto but that's been said and reasoned. I wouldn't object to Riise playing here to be honest - even though i said players leaving shouldn't be involved. It'd be a shame for him to have his last match for Liverpool be the Champions League exit. I went for Benayoun as the most likey option in 4-4-2 though.

Now, like i want to see Insua play left-back and Lucas to play attacking midfield, i hope Babel gets a rare run in his favoured central attack position, alongside Torres. Look at his goal scoring stats i've assembled (C: Goal via central position, L: Goal via coming in from left, R: Goal via oming in from right)

C (Derby)
C (Besiktas)
C (Besiktas)
R (Newcastle)
C (Marseille)
R (Luton)
L (Bolton)
C (Arsenal)
C (Chelsea)

So despite him playing the vast majority of games on the left, he's only managed to score once coming in from the left-hand-side, and that was more him just being inside the box on the left and rebounding Kuyt's shot that came to him from the post. Comparatively he's barely ever played on the right yet has two goals to his name. For me, he should either be in attack or on the right-wing. That's clear.

If we're leading comfortably i'd give San Jose a run-out, maybe 20-30 minutes from the end - in place of Hyypia. Likewise Nemeth; either for Lucas (Gerrard switching to the middle and Babel going to the right) or for Benayoun (Babel going to the left). Then either Alonso for Mascherano or Kuyt for Torres at some point - i definitely think Kuyt should play a part in our final home match of the season. I don't think there's a place for Plessis, and perhaps it's wise not to rush him into things too quickly. I'd involve him against Spurs on the final day though.

With either teams' seasons dead, in terms of what they can achieve, it should be nice and open. I'm basically hoping Torres can get a goal to level van Nistelrooy's scoring record for a foreigner's opening season, and for good performances by the likes of Insua, Babel and Lucas. And the inclusion at some point of Krisztian Nemeth. Plus of course a Liverpool victory.

I think we can bounce back to victory and crush a fragile Manchester City, whose manager as Crabhead said is close to the exit door, by about 3 goals to 1 (Torres, Lucas, Babel please). I wouldn't be surprised for them to give us a good game as the pressures off.

Anyway, i'm looking forward to this. Let's end the season on a high!

I forgot Torres could be out for this one after supposedly having a hamstring problem against Chelsea.

If that's the case i'd stick either Crouch in his place, to make one final concerted effort to keep the big man at Anfield, or Kuyt, in his better position (in my opinion).

Yeah....as well as that.....poor City......poor L'pool....with all that turmoil going on in the background. How can any team be expected to win anything under such circumstances.

My prediction is 0-0. I would like to predict both teams losing but.......wishful thinking.......

and I'm very disapointed with Jamie 'Scouse' when asked which team he would like to see win out of Chelsea and United in the Champions League final. His reply..."Chelski.......I hate Manchester United"......how sad of the Liverpool defender to be so bitter, twisted and jealous of Uniteds success.

they're great rivals. Did you expect a merry "oh how I love Man Utd, I hope Ronaldo and Rooney both get hattricks..." attitude?? Get over it. Despite Chelsea knocking us out, i'm backing them to win it to rub it in Manchester United's faces we still have 5 for their 2 (pretty sure its two, they're supposed to be level with Nottingham Forest Laughing). Its about bragging rights and rivalry mate, deal with it.

Liverpool 2-1 Manchester City.

Crouch and Kuyt to score for Liverpool. Johnson to score for Manchester City.

If it's about bragging rights son...you best keep your mouth firmly closed.....you don't have much to brag about on current issues. And if anyone needs to get over it.....as you put it.....that comment really applies to Jamie 'Scouse' and his supporters Very Happy

Record of 18 league titles. 5 European Cups, in terms of silverware we're the most successful team in English football. Not much to brag about at all is it?

This has nothing directly to do with Liverpool v Man City.

Talk about the match or quietly leave.
