Chelsea's record signing Didier Drogba admits he has performed way below his best this season. The Ivorian striker moved to Stamford Bridge in a £24million deal in the summer from Marseille, but hardly managed to justify the hefty price-tag. He scored just 16 goals in all competitions and had an especially poor run in the Premiership, despite the Blues winning the league with a couple of weeks to spare. Drogba said: "I am not satisfied with my first season. I should have done better, scored more goals. "At the beginning it was hard because I had to deal with the transfer fee, a new culture and a new way of life. Then I injured my groin in October. "But I never forgot that I came to Chelsea to win things and we have done. The Carling Cup was the first and it was very special. "I know that I am not the first offensive option any more, like I was at Marseille. There are lots of good players here and everybody scores. But I am going to come back stronger next season." |
