I think that he has enormous ability but has not had the wide players playing in the side enough!

Chelsea's record signing Didier Drogba admits he has performed way below his best this season.

The Ivorian striker moved to Stamford Bridge in a £24million deal in the summer from Marseille, but hardly managed to justify the hefty price-tag.

He scored just 16 goals in all competitions and had an especially poor run in the Premiership, despite the Blues winning the league with a couple of weeks to spare.

Drogba said: "I am not satisfied with my first season. I should have done better, scored more goals.

"At the beginning it was hard because I had to deal with the transfer fee, a new culture and a new way of life. Then I injured my groin in October.

"But I never forgot that I came to Chelsea to win things and we have done. The Carling Cup was the first and it was very special.

"I know that I am not the first offensive option any more, like I was at Marseille. There are lots of good players here and everybody scores. But I am going to come back stronger next season."
