Liverpool strikers are duds

After having seen last night Champion's League game against Benfica, it was confirmation that Liverpool's strikers are a bunch of duds. Liverpool need to invest some cash in the summer to bring in one or two world class strikers. We are creating a lot of chances but not converting.

Clearly Morientes has not been able to adapt to the rigours of English football. Cisse is the same, although it does not help when the manager does not give you an extended run. Crouch clearly is not a natural goalscorer, and lacks the clinical finishing of a Rush or Owen. We can't expect too much from Fowler as he is clearly a shadow of the player he was.

should have snapped up owen when they had the chance in the summer. however much Newcastle paid for him (£17 mil or sumin i think) owen would have earned that all back for Liverpool with the trophies he would have helped them to win

the fact that rafa brought in defensive players in january suprised me seeing as Liverpool have kept clean sheets most of this season

Hi there guys. I see that some of you here are new on the site. Why not you guys go to the Newcomer's section and introduce yourself if you haven't done so.

As for the topic at hand, I personally think we should have a clear-out in the striking department as well.

i think this is better...

gerrard as a right winger,
garcia as a striker,
alonso/sissoko as a defensive midfielder,
kewell as left winger,
and a new attacking midfielder

i think the reason why we cannot score is because there's no one in the squad that can control the ball like Rooney...(note that Rooney is an AM)

our striker is good...
but its just no support...
we only hope some decent crosses to come then try put in on the net...
this is not good...

but it isnt, morientes and cisse cant adjust to the english game and we lack a natural goal scorer (owne)

maybe Owen will be a good idea...
the question is will the board spend big money for him???
or will Newcastle let Owen go??

Newcastle have to let him go if we offer 12 million.

There's a rumour that there is a clause in his contract that says he is allowed to talk to clubs if the clubs table an offer of 12 million. We NEED him!

Torres is just another Cisse. He would not fit in our team. A mate from Spain (Barcelona) told me that Torres misses a lot.

Now David Villa would be class.

But I won't swap all of them for Owen. We need Owen.

Yeah. But Owen is expensive. There are a lot of quality strikers Liverpool can sign.

Darren Bent for example, Craig Bellamy as well, although I wouldn't like Bellamy at the club.

no im with owen. Last season crouch was bagging them all and he was adapted to the english game yet he cant score all the time with us. But owen can score where ever he is

well i dunno about owen. But it looks like we wont be getting David Villa who has been reported to be Rafa's top target. His buyout clause is £85 million pounds.

I would have been absolutely livid if we hadn't win tonight. Fulham have the worst away record and we have one of the best home records. Wouldn't have been good if we failed to win. Confused

I'm with everyone here saying we need Owen back...i totally agree,i think David Villa is superb but it would be very risky to sign him if he does another Morientes and fails to settle.....Owen all the way
