This is the first time I've heard of this rumor. I knew Zidane has stated he wanted to get back into football in a different role (not as a player), but never thought he'd possibly jump in as a manager like this. Anyone else have any other info on this?

Zidane To Become QPR Manager
Reports in the British Sunday papers are sensationally claiming that Zinedine Zidane is to be unveiled as the new manager of London side Queens Park Rangers.

The back page of this morning’s Sunday People is dominated by the claim that French legend Zinedine Zidane is set to take over the manager’s reins at Loftus Road.

The tabloid claims that Rangers’ owner Flavio Briatore has promised a big announcement before QPR’s home game today with West Brom and sources close to the club are speculating that the great Zizou is to be sensationally named as the club’s new boss.

Gareth Ainsworth, the club’s captain, has added to the intrigue by inviting fans to “attend the dawn of a new era” in his programme notes ahead of the Championship clash.

“Sunday promises to be a day every QPR fan, old and young, remembers for the rest of their lives” he added.

QPR's match with the Baggies is scheduled for a 1400 BST kick-off.

On another note, the big announcement was the reveal of a new Club crest.

I really like that new crest!
Would Zidane make a good manager - I'm not so sure. He would attract big players though to go with QPR's spending power, it may just work!

It would be good to see Zidane in english football even though its just as a manager. I cant see it happening though...

Big things are expected in West London next season in the championship with QPR....

With the funds they will have available to them nothing less than the title will be acceptable!

I havent heard anywhere about Zidane taking over as there coach but it wouldnt surprise
me to see him turn up in the summer with the connections they have now at their club....

I just hope the players there dont start head butting everyone when they get insulted on the pitch!!

Zidane at Loftus Road Shocked

Mind you people said the same about Ruud Gullit at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea were a nothing team before falling into the money.

Zizou's my all time favorite player and I can see him becoming a great player coach one day. His leadership skills and influence on the pitch have always screamed pristine man management like Roy Keane's did when he was playing so I've always envisioned him as future France or Algeria manager. That being said, his appointment would be a coup as players all over the world look up to him. He probably won't be anything like a Wenger or Mourinho but with him as a figurehead and the proper backroom to do the dirty work, it could be a masterclass by Mr Briatore.

I'd love to see Zidane in some capacity all the same though, so I hope these rumours are at least somewhat true.
