i have never met a malicious, horrible spanish person in my life and will never accept people generalising and criticising the spanish people, particularly over the actions of a tiny few. i would hate for spanish members like yourself, who has always been humourous, respectful and generally a great member of the forum, to look in on this section and think that those views are common among british people.

No, I don't think that, but it's always good to read things like what you posted to be sure. Of course there are stupid people over here, racists, nazis... etc, but not more than in any other country. That's what I think at least. I've been in London almost three years ago and I didn't have any problem, besides it's a very cosmopolitan city (as Madrid) so everyone respected eachother. The term "boyo" is a part of "Wenglish" (Welsh-English) that has simply grown from a Welsh take on the English word "boy". Although perhaps not widely used today, it is used to address someone, not necessarily young, frequently with negative connotations.

It has probably become more widely used by those wanting to speak with derision towards Welshmen, a patronising term for those ignorant of Welsh culture and language.

The English language also includes a widely used verb which holds a perceived slant against the Welsh. To "welsh" on a bet means to swindle a person out of some money - used originally by bookies this verb is probably the least used in Wales

its a simple term used by many jocks themselves. you can not prove that it is racist. a link would merely be a viewpoint of somebody. the welsh equivalent of jock would be taffy not boyo so that would be different. not that i would consider boyo to be racist either anyway.

As Scotsman Danny Meikle was convicted for calling Welshman Tecwyn Thomas "boyo", the courts underlined how a word one person thinks of as being innocent can be interpreted as being racist by others.

I struggle with people who are racist like yourself in my opinion.
