Chelsea captain John Terry says the Blues already have a goal for next season - to emulate Arsenal and remain unbeaten as they retain their title.
The Blues have only lost once this season - to Manchester City - but it seems that's one too many for Jose Mourinho's men. They are already talking about repeating the Gunners' feat of last season and going the whole of next season without losing a single game in the Premiership. And that of course would probably mean back-to-back titles, something only Manchester United have managed in the history of the Premiership. "Our aim next season has to be to go through the season without losing in the league," said Terry. "Maybe targeting an unbeaten season is setting the bar high but that is what this club is all about. "We've only lost once so far, at Manchester City. It was a game we should never have lost and it hurt. Arsenal showed last season that it can be done. They did it, so why can't we? None of us see any reason why we shouldn't be able to do that. "Everybody says the hardest thing of all is winning the title in back-to-back seasons and we know that United are the only side who've done that since the Premiership started. "The challenge for us is to make sure we can do it as well. It's the job for all of us to make sure we come back next season and try even harder to ensure we do improve." Chelsea play Manchester United on Tuesday night as they aim to extend the gap between the two sides to a massive 20 points. |
