Everton win 7-1 and Newcastle geat beat 6-0.

Now im sure i predicted a high score with these 2 teams. Wonder why

well we beat Spurs 4-1. It doesnt mean anything. We got beat 6-0 when we didnt have a manager and by the team SAF called his best ever team. Dosnt mean the Everton and Newcastle game will be high scoring. could be but i doubt it

Here's another one.

Ronaldo scored 4 goals against the top 4 teams 2 against Everton ,1 against 10 man Liverpool and 1 against Arsenal in a game where he was non existent 95 % of the time. Add man city to that as another big match and the stat stays the same.

In perspective , for three seasons Henry was the leading scorer and had 20 odd assists.Those are the numbers that make true legends and add the fact that Henry did it against the man U's The Chelsea's and the Liverpool's and Spurs,pretty much makes Ronaldo's record look quite ordinary.

That's why i don't agree with him being the best player in the league when other players are consistently effective regardless of opponent.

As for comparing him to Henry - did Henry ever score 40 goals in a single season? I don't remember him doing so, and he's a striker!

5 years ago there used to be a lot more balance in the EPL, and Henry bagged 30 goals for 5 seasons in a row for Arsenal. Henry was better than Ronaldo.

henry was better than ronaldo but with two more seasons like he has had you have got to say that he will be on his way to being the best premier league player...

Henry has also on top of that provided lots of assists, but I don't think he is the best Barclays player ever.

you can't compare a midfielder with a striker.. it's not a midfielder's job to score goals..

and just incase you forget.. even if he doesn't score sometimes.. he always assists others to do it instead..

I agree with your fist line there.

But I dunno about the assists. He doesn't always assist other like you say. For a midfielder(Winger) his assist stat is not upto the mark. But of course he's scored a lot of goals and people only just see that and not his all round play.

I'll say this though. He deserves the awards he got this season and he maybe the best player this season, but he's not a better player than Henry(When he played for Arsenal and not now)...

He has age on his side and he can mature and develop and become one of the greatest player if not the greatest player... But we'll have to wait to see that...

Henry had better moments but he wasn't as relentlessly efficient as Ronaldo has been this season.

no way was he better than shearer. Shearer scored more goals for worse teams. Im a huge henry fan but shearers records speak for themselves

Shearer probably scored more over the years but Henry is without doubt the superior player. Teams were terrified of him, no one could ever say that of Shearer.

Well terrified this and terrified that. Shearer scored more goals so that makes him more valuable. It makes no difference if you are a C. Ronaldo or a Van Nistelrooy as long as you keep the goals coming.

how can you say that people were not terrified of him. Whenever teams came up against Newcastle he was the player that they were worried about. It doesnt matter if it was Man United or Sunderland they were always worried of him scoring a goal.

You're pretty blinded by bias if you can't see that Henry was a better player than Shearer could ever hope to be.

Henry scored 174 goals in 254 games for Arsenal.

Shearer scored 148 in 303 for Newcastle.

Henry has therefore the superior record. Additionally he achieved the top assist tally three years running which Shearer had minimal impact on.

Shearer had a much better ratio at Blackburn but the Premiership was a far weaker league in those days. Where Man Utd now have Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic they had David May and Gary Pallister. Moreover in that era teams were far more attacking with most universally playing 4-4-2 with attacking wingers and two attacking midfielders. Nowadays most teams play a 4-5-1 and everyone plays a holding midfielder. So not only are the players better but we play more defensive.

Additionally Shearer failed to ever guide Newcastle to any success despite his goals where as Henry carried the entire team for years, leading them to two titles and a Champions League final. Shearer on the other hands won one thing his entire career at a real low point for the league when there was really only one other decent team in the whole division.

Finally Henry had a lot more to his game than goals, even though he beat Shearer in that area anyway.
