Tennis Season 2008

I dunno whether there's any thread for the Tennis season this year. But I started one here.

I'll start by saying that I'm a big fan of Nadal and I want him to finish 1st in the standings by the end of this year ahead of Federer. He's won 102 of his last 103 matches on Clay I think and he'll be winning Roland Garros for sure this year. So if he improves his records on grass and hard surfaces a bit, then he'll beat Federer to the top IMO...

OMG!!! Nadal lost on clay! Only the second time in 105 matches.

Well it seems Nadal was struggling apparantly with a foot injury and called for his trainer twice during the match. But still its a great victory for Ferrero(His second against Nadal in 8 encounters)...

i like federer because he is good

How is Djokovic doing this year?

Well he started great with a Grand slam victory at Melbourne(Beating Federer in the Semis). But after that he wasn't that impressive IMO. But lets see how he plays on Clay at Roland Garros... Not so sure of him winning with Nadal playing well in clay, even though he lost to Ferrero recently(2 losses in 105 is not bad)...

What a game between Nadal and Djokovic!!!

Fantastic display of Tennis talent by the two of them with Nadal finally prevailing and going through to the finals where he'll meet Federer, a replay of last year's final here(Federer won that match). Relentless play by Nadal and Djokovic gave his all but couldn't match Nadal in the final set. Completely by Nadal there...

Well I'm really excited for the Nadal-Federer final today... Should be a fantastic match with winners and aces and passes left, right and center...

I hope Nadal will win yet again against Federer and lift the Trophy...

That Nadal-Djokovic was a very good match. I was impressed. Maybe the best game of the season... Djokovic is gonna be the number 2 in a matter of time...
Federer-Nadal today, I hope Rafa wins, but it will be difficult since this is one of Federer's fav trophies.

Rafa won it mate! It was simply amazing. Federer was 9 out of 9 in the German Finals before this match and Rafa broke that Streak with the win.

Federer lead 5-1 in the first set and had 2 set points, but Rafa came back strongly to win the set 7-5(He won 7 games in a row actually which includes the first game of set 2). In set 2 again Federer lead by 5-2 when again Nadal fought back to force a tie-breaker which RFed eventually won...

But in Set 3, it was all Nadal. He broke Federer early and raced to a 4-1 lead and never gave up as he eventually won the set 6-3 thereby winning the match. In the final game, Nadal didn't even gave Federer a sniff as it was a love game with 3 winners for Nadal and an error by Federer. Fantastic match. Great tennis and I'm just happy that Nadal won yet again against Federer. Can you guys give me the head-to-head record for those two??? I think Nadal is leading that....

Also about, Djokovic taking the 2nd spot, I'm not so sure of that mate. Nadal is getting back on form and he's also an improved player in grass. Remember he pushed Federer all the way in the Wimbledon finals last year, so I don't think Djokovic can take 2nd spot from Nadal atleast this year...

Yeah but you have to think that Nadal must defend a 1st place in Roland Garros and a 2nd place in Winbleddon. It won't be easy to at least repeat those results...
Anyway, I'm glad Nadal won, it was a fantastic match! I think the head-to-head record between Nadal and Federer is 10-6 for the spaniard (I read somewhere it was 9-6 before this final).

I think, he'd do that first part most probably without much problems. But the second part is a lot tougher. Nadal did reach the Wimbledon finals for the past 2 years and he pushed Federer to the limits last year. But with Djokovic having improved a lot, it's going to be a lot tougher. But I hope to god that Djokovic gets drafted into the half where Federer is so that Federer has to face him in the Semis instead of Nadal in both those tournaments...

The Atois Championships have started this week at Queens.

Andy Murray was through after roughly 10 mins when Sebastein Grosjean retired injured , with Murray leading 2-0.

The guys play today.

I always enjoy watching the Artois Championship at Queens but it clashes with Euro 2--8 so have to give it a miss this year unfortunately.

excuse my ignorance...i only watch tennis when Andy Roddick is playing usually is he not in this Artois tournament?

alot of big names at it this year.nadal,safin,roddick,murray,nalbandian,,djokovic,hewitt-i fancy nalbandian to win it.

I'll be happy if Nadal wins it and it'll be a tremendous build up to the Wimbledon. But Roddick is gunning for a record 5th title here, so anything can happen...

Also Federer has won the first round match against Michael Berrer in the Gerry Weber open...

Knowing Roddick. He'll loose. Again.

Again? he's won it 4 times out of the last 5 years! he won today anyway by default...but a wins a win!

He'll most likely lose if he comes up against Nadal or Djokovic . He always seems to fail when up against a big opponent hence he's only ever won one Grand Slam. And the 2003 U.S. Open was a gimmie for him, as Federer failed to make it into the final bracket and Agasi lost in the semi's.
