Ill be happy for him to get 20-25 goals a season. He won't be scoring 40 plus goals a season.

if Ronaldo has said that then he is a brave man ..he has basically been on fire all through the season . He would have to score nearly a goal a game in all competitions ....i guess he will play at least 50 games next season if fully fit to get that sort of total ...ie involved in every game in every competition really ....dont think Sir Alex Ferguson will allow that ..

With the demands of top flight football i dont think it is possible to sustain the kind of form needed to get close to 50 goals ...even for someone like Ronaldo .

So no way on earth ....i`ll lick Big Jono`s boot if he does .... Smile

No...Ronaldo has NOT said that. It's the press as usual.....trying to put words in his mouth. When asked if he is going to beat his haul this season next season.........he was hesitant and said it would be great to do that.

how unusual ... Smile i am not surprised he hesitated ...40 goals has been a fantastic total ...especially for a midfielder ...

i was just wondering how many penalties he has missed ....must be a few , he would be now be on 43 or 44 maybe ..so a hatrick inext week would have seen him hit nearly 50 this season .. Wink

Wrong.

He did say it, it was an off-the-cuff remark meant as a ittle joke, but i reckon he might see it as a new challange for next year.

NO.

I mean if you feed him penalties the whole season then he got a shot. I don' see him scoring as many as this season. I think teams should be able to know how to play him better than before and if more teams start using an quick holding mid fielder then he will be less effective for sure.

Why? What is going to be different about next season? Ronaldo is improving year on year.

i feel a lot of teams will wise up to him and his chances will be somewhat limited.

like conner says, 25 goals would still be a good return.

As has been said, he's been exceptional this season and you have to assume that he is reaching his heights with 40+ goals. To get 50 would mean he'd have to do what he's done this season and improve on it by 25%. Unlikely.

He wont have another season like this next year. He will get about 30goals i think. Which is still great from a so called winger.

In the English leagues:

The great Dixie Dean (Everton) 60 league goals 1927/1928 is the most ever, his tally was 67 for the season including 3 FA Cup goals and 4 international goals.

Terry Bly (Peterborough) 52 league goals in 1960/1961 is the most recent.

Only 5 players have ever scored more than 50 league goals, the two above and George Camsell (Middlesborough) 59 goals 1926/1927 and Ted Hartson (Mansfield) 55 goals 1936/37 and Joe Payne (Luton) 55 goals 1936/1937.

So anybody who's scored 50+ was living about a generation ago, he will write history if he does (he will not score 50+)
