I think I'll vote for Mary Phillip.
She's an outstanding defender but doesn't get much credit for it.
She's very quiet but always where you need her to be.
Fixes most of her defending team mates' mistakes.
Strong physically and one of those who actually think on the pitch.

Kelly will probably win anyway, so I won't bother voting for her Wink
Besides, if I won and had to present the award to the England's Best Player
I'd rather it to be someone I won't collapse in front of Laughing
I might as well faint in front of Mary though, who knows Laughing Wink

I was thinking about Rachel Brown as goalkeepers don't get the credit they derserve as everyone goes for the outfield players. She is a good keeper and has performed well but was out injured for a while so I'm not too sure now. I'll just have to think on it a bit more Smile

I agree that keepers dont get much credit...but I dont think I'd ever vote for Brown
- only cos she sometimes she makes strange decisions, not so much with England cos shes been injured for ages, but with Everton - and just makes me think 'why you do that' Laughing

She was excellent for England against France tho Cool

I think I would collapse in front of any England player Embarassed Laughing I got all awestruck on Sunday when I saw Hope Powell (and that was from a distance!!) Laughing

I still haven't voted yet Rolling Eyes I think you and smoggie have a good point about Mary Phillip. Also, I know she made a couple of errors on Sunday, but I've always liked Katie Chapman... but ummm... I'm so undecided still! Laughing

If you feel like voting for Katie, don't hesitate to do so Very Happy

This is The Player of the Year Award and she was great during Euros for example.
She played injured and was awesome Cool

That one game last Sunday should not spoil anyone's view on the whole year.
I think Katie Chapman is a great footballer.

I will still vote for Mary though. B-R-I-L-L-I-A-N-T Cool

On the other hand, this is a Player of the Year Award
so I don't think we should concider 2005 at all.
Why awarding the player in August then?

Right - I found it Cool

"The first game to be included in the voting starts with England's 3-2 victory over Finland last June,
and the final game in the qualifying period will be England's World Cup Qualifier with Austria on 20 April."

All clear now Mr. Green

After much dithering and changes of mind I voted for Katie chapman, if you discount her mishap against France she has played very well in midfield winning most of her battles Smile . Her work rate is second to none , one of the hardest worker's in the squad Wink
