Aston Villa have confirmed reports suggesting that former Liverpool striker Milan Baros has a release clause in his contract.
The 24-year-old Czech Republic international signed a four-year contract when he completed his £7million transfer to Villa Park last summer but has struggled during his first season with David O'Leary's side. After scoring only six Premiership goals this term, rumours suggested Baros would be leaving Villa at the end of this season and operations director Steve Stride has admitted that the striker does have the clause written into his contract. However, Stride told the club's official website: "The reports are a bit misleading and, before anybody gets carried away, we're certainly not looking to sell Milan and nobody should think that's the case. "But there's a clause in his contract that, if activated, would represent a massive profit for Aston Villa. "There's been a lot of speculation over the weekend and we feel it's only right that the supporters know what the position is." |
