Eidur Gudjohnsen revealed he and his Chelsea team-mates were determined not to let up on Wednesday night as they broke more Premiership records.
The 3-1 success at Old Trafford - the champions' third over Manchester United in four attempts this term, created a new Premiership record of 94 points and was their eighth consecutive away league success. And Gudjohnsen, one of the goalscorers, said afterwards: "We've taken a big step as a team and today we still had something to play for - record points in the Premiership - we knew about the record and we wanted it. "We worked hard and I think we deserved to win tonight - it's been a great season for us." The Icelander continued on Sky Sports: "It could have been even better if we had got to the Champions League final but you've got to start somewhere and we've got two trophies this season, which is a great achievement. "We'll enjoy the last game (at Newcastle), the summer break and will come refreshed into the new season. "We are the champions and it's a great feeling." Goals from Tiago and Joe Cole sandwiched Gudjohnsen's effort after Ruud van Nistelrooy had given United the lead. And the striker added: "I always seem to get a goal against United. "I enjoy playing them. They are a great team and they let you play football - I hope the run continues." |
