Queens Park Rangers have agreed an undisclosed fee with Serie B side Chievo for midfielder Matteo Alberti.

The 19-year-old, who has yet to make his full debut for Chievo, will officially sign a four-year contract at Loftus Road on 1st July.

Alberti becomes QPR's third signing in three days, following Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper Radek Cerny and Newcastle United defender Peter Ramage, ahead of what is expected to be another busy transfer window at the wealthy Championship club.

The agreement comes just 24 hours after Iain Dowie was named as the club's new first-team coach on Wednesday.

As part of the agreement, Chievo will travel to Loftus Road for a pre-season friendly on Saturday 2nd August

My question is do you think with QPR going to buy big this summer will they get promotion straight away?

They have already started spending and yes i think they will carry on spending and, im not sure if they will get promoted straight away all depends in how they bring in. Rumours have it Kevin Phillips knows the Championship is his league now in his older age and is willing to consider moveing to QPR, if that would happen they could get promotion in my opinion. Kevin Phillips shines in the Championship and would be a great asset for QPR.

They have the potential. If I remember correctly, Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore set a 5 year plan to make it into the EPL. This will be year two. They will continue to spend, and they will continue to get better; there is no doubt about that.

QPR
Salgado revealed earlier this month that he was considering an offer from ambitious Championship club Queens Park Rangers.

However, the 32-year-old has pledged his future to the Spanish champions.

"I'm not thinking about the Queens Park Rangers business," he said.

"I've practically made up my mind to retire at Real Madrid."

I found this rather funny. Wouldnt expect salgado or any player of his standard to play for qpr

I think QPR have used the cash wisely and not gone too far overboard with it.I reckon that theyll make the playoffs and have a great advantage of spending power if they go up!

They have used their cash wisely because even with their millions no one of true quality has wanted to drop down a division which would be admitting they are purely in it for the money.

Well lots of people have been saying they thought Queens Park Rangers would get promoted myself included, i thought with the money they had spent they would have a good chance of sucsses in the championship. They so far have played two championship games and had a very mixed time.

Game 1: Queens Park Rangers 2-1 Barnsley, I think was the game that a defender scored twice and missed a penalty, wasnt the best peformance from QPR but they got the result which is all that matters when getting out of the championship

Game 2: Sheffield United 3-0 Queens Park Rangers, Shocking peformance from QPR and a well earned three points for Sheffield United.

I think we should wait 10 games before giving a final judgement on their new signings and whether we feel they will mount a serious promotion challenge.

After 2 games they sit in 15th place.

I don't think they are getting up, I never did, The bookmakers were just over promoting them because they now have moneybags owners, money that can't always be spent to effectively on players in this division. I wll have more of a judgment on them when we play them this season.

Yeah i know i shouldnt judge them afetr 2 games but they really dont look strong enough to mount a promotion challenge. They have looked awful defensively and there are just simply at least 6 better teams than them in the championship.

Queens Park Rangers have snapped up former Italy international Damiano Tommasi on a free transfer.

Tommasi has signed a one-year contract at Loftus Road after leaving Levante at the end of last season.

The midfielder, who played for Italy at the 2002 World Cup, had spent two years with Spanish side Levante after previously enjoying a decade at Roma.

R's boss Iain Dowie is confident that the 34-year-old's experience will be a valuable addition to his squad for the rest of the campaign.
