DEL HORNO FOR Chelsea?
Athletic Bilbao left-back Asier Del Horno will be Chelsea’s first signing of the season, says the Daily Mail, who claim that £12m will sign the Spanish international. Del Horno was a target for Real Madrid, who may now switch their attentions to Ashley Cole. The same report suggests that Lyon midfielder Michael Essien will also sign for Chelsea in a £15m deal.


FIGHT ON FOR BOA MORTE
Liverpool and Newcastle are battling to sign Fulham winger Luis Boa Morte, says The Daily Mirror. The Cottagers rate the Portuguese player at £5m but it seems that they will instead have to settle for a player-exchange deal, with the Reds said to be offering Stephen Warnock, while Newcastle are offering defender Andy O’Brien.


‘Arsenal WANT LESCOTT’
With Arsene Wenger looking to spend ‘small money’ once again this summer, one touted target is Wolves centre-half Joleon Lescott, with The Sun saying the Gunners have made an enquiry about the 24-year-old, who has had a brilliant season after missing the whole of Wolves’ Premiership campaign through injury.
