Dirk Kuyt as a right back?

Stamina, tenacity and work rate are all things you would associate with a right back. Kuyt is technically inept and has a pretty poor scoring record.

Does anyone else feel he would be better suited to right back than centre forward/right wing?

Yes, he can do all of those but he can't tackle or mark! Exclamation Exclamation Rolling Eyes

No way would Kuyt make a good right back. You say he has Stamina, tenacity and a good work rate but so do many strikers are we arent talking about them becoming right backs, for example Carlos Tevez has all the same attributes that you have listed but there is no way hed be a right back like there is no way Kuyt will be. Kuyt has no experience in this position, not a good tackler and simply would be beaten almost every time an average winger tried to go past him. A ridiculous idea!

Also Liverpool would fail beaten many teams in the CL considering he scores consistently there.

He can't tackle or mark. At this level he would get slaughtered.

Nonetheless, I voted yes. Who wouldn't want to see a monkey jumping all over the attackers (he does that most of the time anyway helping Reina out)

Anyone can learn to tackle well, though some things come naturally!

I vote yes because of the positive skills mentioned above and also him being an attacker for a while would help with his reading/understanding of the attacking player.

No. Just dont see it happening. Put him in a different club or even league and he would score goals. Liverpool ruined this player

He does a job for Liverpool. He's not a Torres and he can't do what Crouch does, so he uses his physical & energetic attributes to help their attacks - he's scored some vital goals as well at right times.

As G Man says, stick him in most other top European Leagues or even just a different team and he'd batter in plenty of goals. He just does a different job for Liverpool.

There have been plenty of players who have had drastic changes of position and it ended up working out much better for them. Drogba used to be a defender and look where he is now. I know that Kuyt would score more in a different league but unfortunately for him he doesn't play in a different league, if he works a lot on his tackling and reading of the game he could have a future in that position. He played games at the start of the seaon up front for Liverpool and last season also but didn't make much of an impact I just feel that if he works on it a lot then he could do a good job in a more defensive role, even just as cover.

Um.........NO!!!!! I think he's a bad enough player up front. I do believe that he is very overrated and the reason that he doesn't score many goals is that he just aint that good.

Kuyt would make a very good full back on either side because although he's decent enough with both feet, he hasn't got the luck or the bottel to ever become the 'goal machine' Liverpool fans touted him when he came to the premiership. i do think that this is a rather pointless topic because you don't tell someone who wants to be up front to play at right back. this is all in my humble opinion of course.
