Magath: Make your mind up |
|
Bayern Munich coach Felix Magath has told Jurgen Klinsmann to announce his number one goalkeeper for the World Cup.
Speaking in a television interview, Magath expressed his view that Bayern keeper Oliver Kahn had everything to lose, the longer the period of indecision continues. "We have all seen that things are reaching a head now and that is something that Jurgen Klinsmann seems to have underestimated," Magath said, just days after Kahn's uncertain performance against Cologne. "Oliver has to shoulder all the pressure as the current number one. Jens Lehmann has nothing to lose, as he can only become number one. "Klinsmann would do both me and FC Bayern a huge favour if he made his decision soon. I would have done it long ago." Magath, however, stressed his full backing for Kahn despite his recent injury worries and match day errors. "Oliver Kahn is someone who brings a wealth of experience to a team and that will help us a lot," he added. "Jens Lehmann's personality has never helped a team progress." Who do you think should be in goal for Germany come the start of the World Cup and why? |

I'm not a big Lehmann fan, even though I'm an Arsenal supporter, and I do feel he's having a very good season. I think Kahn is still the better of the two, especially in big games. But as I have said before, I really feel Timo Hildebrand needs serious consideration as well.......

I agree, Hildebrand is totally underrated by the German media. I think it is because he plays for such an unfashionable club in VfB Stuttgart. If he was playing for a bigger German team or foreign outfit, he would be most certainly in contention. That is why i think the only reason Lehmann is in the frame, because of the fact he plays for Arsenal. I would put Timo and Hans-Joerg Butt ahead of Jens in the Germany pecking order. |
