Soldo set for Stuttgart exit |
|
VfB Stuttgart have confirmed they will not be offering club captain Zvonimir Soldo a new contract.
The 38-year-old midfielder has been a regular first-team feature under coach Armin Veh this year. However, Stuttgart's management team have decided that it is time to put an end to Soldo's 10-year career at the Gottlieb Daimler Stadion. "Zvonimir Soldo will go down in the Stuttgart history books as one of the most successful players and one of the most important personalities the club has ever seen," said VfB sport director Horst Heldt on Wednesday. "He accepted our decision in his usual professional manner. "I don't know what his immediate futures plans are, but I can say that there will always be a door open for him at VfB." Soldo joined the Schwaben from Croatia Zagreb in 1996 and has made a total of 296 league appearances for the club. |
