Gemmill signs up with Knights
SBS The New Zealand Knights have signed 35-year-old former Scotland international midfielder Scot Gemmill. Gemmill, who won 27 caps for Scotland in a career which has seen him play for Nottingham Forest and Everton, said he was looking forward to playing in the A-League. "This opportunity is a chance to continue playing at a high level in a league that is attracting great interest here in the UK," he said. "Those who have followed my career will know I am a whole-hearted player with commitment and fitness right at the top of my priorities. That won't change with the Knights." "I have been more than impressed with the facilities and plans for the future at this club and after discussion with (Knights head coach) Paul Nevin had no hesitation in signing terms." Nevin said he expected Gemmill to team up well with fellow new boy Richard Johnson in midfield. "Scot will bring a great attitude and work ethic to the club. He is renowned for his training and has already vowed to be the fittest at the club," he said. "With Scot alongside Richard Johnson we are building a formidable and experienced midfield that will provide us with a strong platform to play from. Scot is quality through and through and is a great signing for the club." The Knights finished bottom in the A-League last season, winning just one of their 21 league games. |

Still a lot of work to do but it looks like they are moving in the right direction.

They desperately need a better striker and a couple of wide players. But hopefully Gemill will add something.
