Boohoo Crying or Very sad If you were to stop coming onto a forum because of that then it would be us putting on the gloves to catch your toys!!

I knew Steaua would win today, predicted it in the pub to a Middlesbrough fan last night. I just hope that Boro can over-turn the score line at home. They give me a giant amount of entertainment in the past few games in Europe so for that I owe them the respect to hope they win the competition.

Basle said that m8. They got 2.
Was a good game like. Though i really think your players need to go to acting school, it was far to obvious Razz

Some DAMN good play though.

Hello, I am a Steaua fan and I wanna share my oppinions on the night. So, as even boro's coach admits, the English team must be delighted with the just 1 goal loss. It should have been 2 or 3 for Steaua. You all bring out the 4-1 victory over Basel, but let's remember that was possbile only after their key defender was sent out. And, let's remember Steaua is not Basel. Most of all, Steaua plays much better away than at home. So, please don't get your hopes up, cos Steaua has 90% chance of qualifying. Only a very home-supporting referee could send Steaua out. Boro's players all say about the fatigue, I think it was not the case. Everyone could see how good Steaua's defense is, and it really doesn't let the opposite team create chances. You all say about Hasselbaink who is indeed a good player, but Betis' attack didn't score a goal in 2 matches against Steaua. And I'm talking here about Joaquim, Edu, who, please don't get offended, but don't campare to your attackers cos they are top notch attackers. And on top of it all, in the next week's game Victoras Iacob will play, our key attacker, a player that will make you forget about Hasselbaink or Viduka. Please don't get this the wrong way, it's just my oppinion. I don't say you are not good, after all you eliminated Roma, but Steaua is just plain too good. anyway, it's just a game, let the best team win, and if boro play superbly they might grab their 10 % chance, after all is football and anything can happen. Good luck to both teams, and I hope I'll see Steaua in the final.

Forza Steaua!!!

Not sure why knowing how to spell my home town name makes me a 'pedant'.
most people accept when they make an error in the faith it was mentioned in (a good one).
If u think im 'making a show of knowledge', well pardon me. God forbid i know how to spell.

I fail to see why u dont accept a spelling correction by someone who lived there, someones home town, as a moderator of a forum.
No malice/pee taking was intended at all.

Or shall i put my goalkeeping gloves on now to catch ur toys?

This place seemed ok.
Only takes one to change that.

Was only joking around mate, no need to get so up tight! Surprised

My fault Moravcik, i wasnt exactly 'sober' at the time.
I tend to forget what humour is after watching a big game, win or lose.

No problem mate, i wouldn't worry too much anything is possible after that Basle game!

Who would you prefer in the final? Schalke or Sevilla?

I tried to watch the end of their match last night after ours finished.
Unfortunately i just couldnt concentrate (or was that 'focus'? Razz)

I cant make a call on that in all honesty, i havent seen enough of either team play. I never just shout 'oh we will win', without any evidence to back it up. I mean in this game, you never know whats gonna happen. Chelski, Man-u and Arsenal all went to Riverside expecting to win (most of boro supporters probly expected to lose if their honest).

As Greavsy said 'Its a funny old game'

Don't get your hopes up, people. Middlesbrough - Steaua - 0 - 2 with a goal from Iacob or maybe both goals from him. Steaua will play in the final at Eindhoven with Sevilla. Middlesbrough is weaker than Betis or Rapid. That's the naked truth.

As for Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal, they probably went to Middlesbrough too relaxed, which is a mistake that Steaua never makes. Middlesbrough doesn't have what it takes to take out Steaua in a 2-legged match. Few teams in europe have that. Don't be disappointed, because you reached the semi-final, which is a good performance. Maybe with Schalke you would have stood a chance but I'm afraid it's all over for you. even your coach was very depressed after the game and admitted in the press conference that he was lucky to get away with just one goal. I guess even he feels he can do nothing against Steaua's great strenght.

McClaren also stated that "they were lucky to get away with two goals" against Basle and look what happened!!!

I wouldn't get too cocky yet Cata remember Boro put out Roma who were favourites for the competition.

Cata, its great that you have signed up, why dont you make a post in the newcomer section and become a regular here.

We all love the banter when it comes to big games. Be careful though - stranger things have happened in football, and Middlesbrough can play far better than they did last night. I still think Steaua will go through though, but I wouldnt say it is already set in stone.

I would like to congratulate you on your fantastic English also.

Yes I know what happened against basel but that was pure luck and that doesn't happen every day. If Majstrovic (I believe this is the name) hadn't been sent out for basel, things would have gone completely the opposite way. I don't want to minimize Middlesbrough's merits though, after all luck comes to the one that really searches for it. But, as I mentioned before, that doesn't happen every day and, although anything can happen in football, the odds are that Steaua will progress through to the final. Just watch Victoras Iacob! Thank you for your compliments, O Dogg!

Middlesborough obviously like being up against it!! Im sure they will be able to overturn the deficite at the Riverside.

#1 It Middlesbrough (one O)
#2 What deficit? Razz
#3 Im praying to every god i can get my hands on.

Oooooo we have a pedant in the house, well excuse me Dr.

DrEggs do you know the story behind the spelling of middlesbrough, well i`ll tell you any way, Legend has it that when Boro became a town less than 200 years ago, it was named middlesborough, but when the signs were made they were misspelt and thus we have middlesbrough , i know it`s sad that i know this but there we are. It is an easy mistake to make i know , Eggs do you remember the Tatooist in the millers arcade,Sinbad, my mate had the boro badge on his arm in the 80`s and sinbad spelt it MIDDLESBOROUGH, fair to say he`s had the P### taken out of him ever since Laughing

Christ yeh i remember Sinbads. Blast from the past there.
Last time i went back i hardly recognised the place tbh. Shame my cars shafted atm or i would be at the 2nd leg.

Its amazing how clubs change/form, i mean we started in Albert park (caught many a fish in their as a kid). Did they ever do that game there i heard about, around Bernie Slavens time?
Prolly around the time he showed his butt in Binns window.

Actually, now u mention it, at Stockton railway station i seem to recall that they mis-spelt Middlesbrough, though after a night at Black cats or the mall i cant recall whats mis-spelled about it.

Waving the bag at the turnstiles alwys got me in anyway, used to walk the perimiter of pitch selling em (well never sold any doing that, but i was closer than everyone else Razz )

It wasnt till i moved away i really started taking an interest tbh.

DREggs, you are in fact spot on, just had a look on the internet and the Archery ground is in fact Albert park today. sure they played on a ground near ayresome or on what became ayresome, might have been ironops, any way i know this is off post so i will try and get back on, i think Boro have every chance to reach the final , cata what happened against Basil was not pure luck i have seen teams reduced to ten men and play better, yes it was fortunate for Boro that Majstorovic was sent off , but
boro had already scored two goals and should have had one definate penalty.
Steaua are a decent side but no better than Roma, and we turned them over , the Riverside will be packed and the atmosphere will be electric no body gave us a chance against Liverpool in 2nd leg of the league cup a few years ago but we where 2 up in the first 15 mins and went on to win the game.
All the sporting best to you cata but this one ain`t over yet by a long way Very Happy .
COME ON BORO!

Saying things like 'you only won coz this happend, and that happend, they were not prepared etc' is pointless.
You might as well say 'you only won because u scored more goals than we did'. Laughing

Steaua vs. Middlesborough
