Schalke midfielder Gerald Asamoah has expressed his desire to play in England in the future.

Although he has no intention of leaving Schalke this season, the Ghana-born German international is hoping to move to England when his contract expires.

"Of course the English league is one where you would love to play," said the 27-year-old.

"I think my style of play would fit the English league well. But I have a contract until 2008 here with Schalke."

Asamoah has admitted that he has already been in correspondence with English clubs.

"There is always contact but I can't leave at the moment. I am enjoying playing for Schalke."

Asamoah has been enjoying Uefa Cup football with Schalke this season. Their 1-1 draw with Levski Sofia on Thursday was enough to send them through 4-2 on aggregate to a semi-final tie with Sevilla later this month.

Do you think that Asamoah would do well in the Premiership?

I reckon he would do fairly well with a team like Blackburn . He is a midfielder that has shown masses of talent this year , but at 27 maybe it's a bit to late in his career .
