They seem to be rather mixed in terms of table positions from what I can remember. Went to see them play in my third year as at the start of the uni year they have free entrance for students to try and boost gates for the rest of the season, which I think works (and they always seem to win when the students get in free apparently!).
As for playing, competition for the uni sides is competitive (they have 5 teams), and I've only heard of the odd few that have got as far as playing for Aber Town reserves.
