Inter fans brought shame on their club as they attacked several players in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Cristiano Zanetti came off the worst, suffering bruising to the back of his head when the masked 'supporters' struck at Milan's airport. It is thought that the attacks were planned following Inter's shocking Champions League exit to Villarreal last week, seeing as they had just beaten Ascoli on Saturday night. City rivals Milan delayed the kick-off for their match with Chievo the following day by 10 minutes to display their anger at the actions of the group of supporters.

"We cannot accept this kind of behaviour, as violence is beyond the pale," said President Giacinto Facchetti. "Anyone who calls themselves an Inter fan cannot condone this attack. Inter always manage to cause a stir in the media and I think it has been like that for a long time, going all the way back to when I was playing." Prior to the attack, the Nerazzurri were 2-1 winners over Ascoli. Julio Cruz and Sinisa Mihajlovic secured the win, although Cruz was sent off in the dying minutes.

That is absolutely shocking! Unbelievable, I can only come to the conclusion that these people arent really football fans but criminals masquerading as such.

They could finish 2nd/3rd and win the Italian Cup possibly aswell. So too answer your question, no it's not been that bad a season, however in Italy the Serie A is everything even above the CL. However the manner in which Inter got beat by Villarreal in the CL sparked an angry reaction.

it dosn't surprise me in the least.i went to the san siro when the toon were playing there a couple of seasons ago and have to say these fans are total a'*e wipes.ive never felt so threatened in all my life.We took 13000 fans over and the organisation from the police and club was shocking. They thought it was a good idea sticking us under there fans, unbeleivable,we were getting spat on,[beep!] on,darts thrown at us as well as missiles, one landed about 20 foot away from me on a young lads back.Isaw with my own eyes fans standing up and launching objects down at us and the police telling them to sit back down again.i would never go back to italy to support my team again if the chance arose. On the other hand i went to feyenoord and was completley differant.a pleasure to visit their ground
