Sweden face the Czech Republic on 22nd April

according to LFC website the squad is:

Caroline Jönsson, Malmö FF
Hedvig Lindahl, Linköpings FC

Caroline Näfver, KIF Örebro DFF
Sara Larsson, Linköpings FC
Hanna Marklund, Sunnanå SK
Maria Bergkvist, Umeå IK
Stina Segerström, KIF Örebro DFF
Frida Östberg, Linköpings FC

Linda Fagerström, Djurgården/Älvsjö
Malin Moström, Umeå IK
Lotta Schelin, Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC
Caroline Seger, Linköpings FC
Therese Sjögran, Malmö FF
Anna Sjöström, Umeå IK

Maria Aronsson, Linköpings FC
Sara Johansson, Hammarby IF DFF
Therese Lundin, Malmö FF
Victoria Svensson, Djurgården/Älvsjö

no Karro, no Hanna Ljungberg (but she will miss Umea's first game because of her injury against France, so I doubt they'd chance her), no Jossan Confused - she's been scoring too, but call up for Aronsson Cool

Really important game as Sweden & the Czech's both have 7points from 3 games thus far
- Sweden slipped up against Iceland only managing a draw,
so need to put in a performance to help try and ensure they win the group!
- Sweden currently lead Group 2 on goal difference

From fifa site:

Sweden with a tough away fixture against the Czechs

Sweden's trip to the Czech Republic is very much make or break as regards their chances of going to China in 2007. The Swedes have seven points from three games, putting them ahead of the Czechs at the top of Group 2 on goal difference. Sweden will be without top striker Hanna Ljungberg, though, who is yet to recover fully from her clash with French goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi during an Algarve Cup match. To replace her, coach Thomas Dennerby will either call on the speedy Sara Johansson or alternatively Maria Aronsson, who recently scored in a friendly against England. Besides Ljungberg, 'keeper Sofia Lundgren, defender Karolina Westberg, midfielder Johanna Almgren and forward Salina Olsson will also be missing. One consequence of this spate of injuries is that it is not the big name clubs such as Umeå or Stockholm who are providing the bulk of the players in the squad, but Linköpings FC, with five representatives.

"It's an incredibly important match," outlined Dennerby, "as both teams are on seven points. If we were to win, with our favourable goal difference, it would be the equivalent of going four points clear."

Italy, who are second in Group 1, will be looking to keep up the pressure on leaders Norway with victory against Greece. The Norwegians are top of the group with 12 points, three clear of Italy, but the Squadra Azzurra will be looking for a big win over a Greek team which is yet to open its account in the qualifiers. That should set things up nicely for the decider in September, when Italy will face Norway on home soil.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think there should be no bigger problem for Sweden,
even without Hanna and Karro Wink
Cool COME ON SWEDEN !!! Cool
Cool
Very Happy no comment required from me - said this all along (LFC new powerhouse)!!!!! love it Wink
A'way the Swede's - I know ya's can do it!!!
Starting 11:
1 Caroline Jönsson -7 Sara Larsson, 4 Hanna Marklund, 2 Stina Segerström, 8 Frida Östberg - 14 Linda Fagerström, 6 Malin Moström (C), 15 Therese Sjögran, 17 Anna Sjöström - 13 Lotta Schelin, 11 Victoria Svensson.
Subs: 12 Hedvig Lindahl - 3 Maria Bergkvist, 5 Caroline Seger, 9 Therese Lundin, 10 Sara Johansson, 16 Caroline Näfver, 18 Maria Aronsson.
not happy, put Lotta up front in replace of Ljungberg - Lotta can play up there and score but I prefer her on the left Sad
Still think they will win though!
Sweden Win 3 - 2
Ok basics are:
Czech republic scored on 2mins - Pavlina Scasna
Sara Larsson got one back on 23 mins
then Lotta Schelin give the Swede's the lead on 62mins
but the Czech Rep scored 5mins later through Alexandra Mouchova
But Sweden scored 2mins later through Lotta!!! Very Happy
again will update later Wink
3-2 must have been a close game? I would have thought Sweden would have eased through that game? Confused
I'm not sure yet what was going on with Sweden, still trying to translate stuff - bit scrappy in defence I think
true - rubbish defence, couldn't keep the ball
missed opportunities, bad pitch & bad weather
Lotta scored 2 and in an interview afterwards said it wasn't one of her best performance but she's happy she scored!
obviously Coach D wasn't happy at all, but they do lead the group & they know they have to step it up!
Sweden's next qualifying match is agains Portugal on 7th May
here's there team:
Caroline Jönsson - Malmö FF
Hedvig Lindahl - Linköpings
Maria Bergkvist - Umeå IK
Sara Larsson - Linköpings FC
Hanna Marklund - Sunnanå SK
Caroline Näfver - KIF Örebro
Stina Segerström - KIF Örebro
Karolina Westberg - Umeå IK
Linda Fagerström - Djurgården/Älvsjö
Malin Moström - Umeå IK
Lotta Schelin - Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC
Caroline Seger - Linköpings FC
Therese Sjögran - Malmö FF
Anna Sjöström - Umeå IK
Maria Aronsson - Linköpings FC
Sara Johansson - Hammarby IF
Therese Lundin - Malmö FF
Victoria Svensson - Djurgården/Älvsjö
Karro's back Very Happy she replaces Frida Sad - Frida is suspended for this match - recieved two yellows in previous games (one in their last game against the Czech Rep) No Ljungan she's still recovering! Confused
Sweden don't have that many goals/caps in this squad so far, Vickan is leading with 43/121, Mosan has 20/108 & no other player in the above squad is in double figures! Neutral
Sweden should win, Portugal are at the bottom of Group 2 with no points
Lotta tried to play in the Czech match with her tongue peircing still in!!!
- obviously the ref made her take it out before the match kicked-off!
I didn't think players were allowed any studs/necklaces/etc (only things that can be taped over & covered - which your tongue isn't Laughing )....so why Lotta did you try?! Shocked lol
*Markan's 100th cap next game Very Happy Go Hanna!!! *
Why isn't tongue piercing allowed anyway? Shocked
I understand the ear-rings and stuff cos your opponent might pull it and rip your ear,
but tongue? Shocked Was the ref afraid Lotta'll play with her tongue sticking out? Laughing Wink
And congrats Markan! Very Happy
If you got a bang on your head during a match & you fell unconscious you can choke on it,
if it came loose during a match you can swallow it and in worse case scenario aspirate (swallow) it into your lungs Shocked
quite a few more reasons but don't wanna bore ya Cool
brief medical lesson there Wink
On Sweden's past results so far, lack of goals, prob gonna put Lotta up front again with Svensson - who cannot score anymore Crying or Very sad
I want them to go out and thrash Portugal! Like 7-0 or something!
but with a few players playing different roles to what they are used to at their clubs - they have looked shakey Sad
Defense will be rearranged.....again...for like the 1000th time already! Mad
Karro's back so Larsson will sit back on the right I guess.
Mr D might make changes, as he usually does Confused - so Hedvig will prob be in goal
since Portugal are...not that good, D might put the younger ones on, let them have fun Cool
- at least thats what I'm hoping for!
all the chages make Sweden disjointed Sad
Sweden 4 - 1 Wink
I am not much against experimenting when playing such a weak team, Smoggie Smile
It's good to try the players on different positions and see how they are doing there
in case sudden changes are needed to be done during important games.
And I'm very OK with Larsson "sitting at the back"
- her passes might actually land within the pitch area then Twisted Evil Laughing Wink
dont get me wrong neither am I - I want the young ones to play!
Get rid of Vickan though and put on Aronsson, Johansson, or Lundin
If your gonna experiment do it prop: lol my team would be
Hedvig
Sara Larsson
Hanna Marklund
Stina Segerström
Caroline Näfver
Lotta
Seger
Terre
~ let Mosan have a rest
Sjoa
Aronsson
Lundin
- isn't a better team to play against to test new things and new players Wink
- completely different team - just to see what happens & how the players deal with the different situation & work together,
plus they always have Karro, Mossan & Svensson on the bench if anything was to go drastically wrong
