Leitch to be Ross County manager |
|
Motherwell captain Scott Leitch is expected to be unveiled Ross County's new manager on Tuesday.
Former Inverness Caley Thistle and Aberdeen boss Steve Paterson had also been strongly linked with the job. But BBC Sport believes that 26-year-old midfielder Leitch is the surprise choice by the Dingwall club. Gardner Spiers, who had been caretaker for much of the season, left County this month after being told that he would not be given the job permanently. Under Spiers, County had been challenging for the title. But, despite a 13-game unbeaten league run, they were unable to prevent St Mirren being crowned champions and winning promotion at the weekend. They have since lost two games under director of football George Adams and slipped to fourth spot. Leitch, previously of Dunfermline Athletic, Hearts and Swindon Town, joined Motherwell in 2000 but has played just once this season due to injury. He has been helping coach the Scottish Premier League club's under-19 side. |

He probably won't be a player-manager. George Adams said in the newspaper The North Star, that the next manager will not be a player-manager. But I, and many County fans want Eric Black as manager.
