Pressley takes charge at Hearts

Club captain Steven Pressley and reserve/under-19 coach John McGlynn will take charge of the Hearts team when they face Celtic on Sunday.
Assistant coach Donald Park left "by mutual consent" on Wednesday - two days after John Robertson's departure as head coach after refusing a demotion.

Chief executive Phil Anderton said: "The matches against Celtic and Aberdeen are important for this club.

"Both in terms of performance and league position."

Celtic are in pole position to retain the league title, while Aberdeen could yet qualify for the Uefa Cup by finishing third. Donald felt it was appropriate that he joined John in leaving the club

"The matches are also significant for the club's involved in the race for the league title and Uefa cup place and therefore it was important we moved quickly to clarify the coaching situation following John's departure," said Anderton in an official club statement.

"Donald felt it was appropriate that he joined John in leaving the club and I would like to place on record my own and the board's appreciation for all he has done for the team in the time he has been here."

Scotland defender Pressley and McGlynn will only be in temporary charge, Hearts having said they are looking to replace Robertson with a manager with international experience.

Park had been unwilling to leave until a compensation package was agreed, but Hearts' statement said he wanted to thank the club's coaching staff for their support throughout his period at Tynecastle and wished Hearts every success in the future.

Pressley and McGlynn will be assisted by coach Stephen Frail.
