Up and coming breakout player? |
|
Who do you think will become a breakout player after the Euro 08' has completed? There are many young players getting thrown into the mix with major potential with the possibility of impressing and creating a massive media storm with transfer speculations. Which young players do you think will increase their stock? Who will shine and finally stamp their name as an established elite player?
Karim Benzema? (20) Samir Nasri? (20) Miguel Veloso? (22) Mario Gomez? (22) Ibrahim Affelay? (22) Joao Moutinho? (21) Ciprian Marica? (22) Eren Derdiyok? (19) Arda Turan? (21) Jakub Blaszczykowski? (22) Bafetimbi Gomis? (22) |

It is hard to say which one of those will be the breakout player, we already know the ability of the of likes of Benzema and Nasri but whether it is too early for them we will see. From what i have seen Benzema has a big furture ahead of him and it looks like Nasri is joining Arsenal after Euro 2008.
I'm looking forward to watching Arda Turan, we have been linked with him and it will be good to see him play against top class players. |

My money is on Karim Benzema. Im a big fan of him. His goal against Man Utd in the Champions League was just a glimps of his explosive potential. His composure and strength are big factors in his game and he is capable of fending for himself. At just 20 he is causing a storm in france and international scene which none of the other genius players which france have produced at his age.
Ibrahim Affelay is an intresting one. He has never gained the international media storm such as players like benzema and nasri. At a young age he tore himself in making a decision between playing for the country of his parents, Morocco or the nation of his upbringing, Holland. Rose through the ranks at PSV and at such a young age has made midfield postion his for both club and country. His ability is unquestionable, precise passing, great shooting and swift feet and if holland make a major impact its sure to involve Affelay. |

Luka Modric will be a player to keep an eye on. He's got great ability and the right head on him to do well.
Moutinho, if he gets games will be interesting. The French boys, I don't know. I can't see that attack force doing as hot as they look on paper. I expect the Germans to have a good tournament and if all goes well, big Gomez should have a good tournament as well. |

Don't forget Papa, Jakub Blaszczykowski is out
I'm really looking forward to seeing Karim Benzema and Samir Nasri in this tournament, They could have a big impact..... it might even hike the price on Nasri and cost Arsenal a few extra €'s. |

Watch out for that lad Phillippe Senderos. Hot stuff!
I think he'll shine. If the weather is good and he polishes his head. |

He carries The hopes of Switzerland on his shoulders.

Oh yeah. I was just naming a few names that popped into my head while I was making the thread. |

I had him in my fantasy team briefly. Ended up sacrificing him for Klose i think... tough choice, but had to be made. Was Senderos a part of their back four in the World Cup side that didn't concede a single goal in the group-stages? |

Oh and i think Mario Gomez could well come to the fore for Germany. It sounds as though he'll be paired alongside Klose, in place of Podolski, so this is his chance.

i think benzema and nasri have a good chance of being poached by a big team

Nasri is close to going to Arsenal i think. If you call them a big team

i dont think appelvlaai will play much.

That Guerrero guy for Poland tonight seemed to have something about him. Had good pace, dribbling, technique, played some great passes and seems to have a good footballing brain. He was only on for the 2nd half but I liked the look of him

i agree...the one who wasnt really a polish guy but a brazillian right?
you mean that guy? |

Podolski is really shining, scored 2 in the opening game and could've made a hat trick with a little luck
|
||||||||

Ibrahim Affelay or Miguel Veloso

I think Moutinho could really light up this tournament in that attacking role. He looks technically very good with the ability to pick out a fine pass and play in teammates as we saw with Portugal's second goal against Turkey. Surrounded by players such as Ronaldo, Simao, Deco and Gomes in an attacking sense must be hugely beneficial to him.
It sounds ridiculous to say thinking of where he use to be but Kazim-Richards for me was very good indeed for the Turks the other night. He did not look out-classed or overawed by the occasion at all, ran well with the ball and linked up the play, always an outlet on the flank with the ability to drive in from wide. Marica and Modric may also shine in my opinion. |

I don't consider him as an up and coming player. He had his breakout in the 2006 World Cup. |

His superb goalscoring record at Stuttgart has obviously gone before him this season, but i have seen absolutely nothing in the opening German fixtures that has impressed me about striker Mario Gomez. Perhaps I'm being somewhat premature but he is looking somewhat out of his depth so far.
