I find it pretty sad how they need to keep mentioning england not being there but no other mention of the other british teams. Took 5-10 seconds into ITV show with portugal and turkey when they mentioned about England.
Also i will add something that was said. When Ronaldo took the free kick and hit the post pleat said "that would of been one of the goals of the tournament" haha Only 1 goal had been scored in the game before and he comes with a comment like this. There were many more comments like this during the first 2 games.

On a positive i find Mark Bright very entertaining.

He meant if it went in, at the end of the tournament that would've stood out as one of the goals on the tournament.

Still, the commentary from BBC and ITV is poor.

BBC's sh*t highlgihts angered me more though.

Commentating is of a very poor standard no matter what channel it is on, normal TV or sky. Every commentator seems to be biased and is always arse licking a certain player. Take Ronaldo for example, whatever he done tonight, they took it way over the top. It made me laugh some of the things they said about the freekick that hit the post. There has to be better people out there!!

I really can't be arsed to listen to these t0ssers for every group stage match!!

Get over it. Commentating is even worse in most countries. Why? Maybe because people who actually know about football, don't become commentators.

Why don't you get over the BBC highlights?

If you watch that Euro classics reel the BBC have done, you can actually hear the commentary getting gradually worse. And often with the same commentator.

The BBC still owns ITV from yesterday's performances. ITV did their match from Portugal's perspective, BBC did their's from a neutral's perspective, which is what should be the case. Maybe it'd be different if they were covering a team with a United player in it, i don't know. I'm sure if Jonathon Pearce was commentating it would be equally as biased.

BBC's punditry is bad, but it's more just uber relaxed. ITV's was decent with Gary Neville - it was a bit United-central but he had an opinion and was worth listening to, but the other two may as well not have been there.

The only real thing that really [beep!] me off is ITV's commentary, 'cause it takes a great deal away from the match itself. It's difficult to stomach their non-stop ass-licking, so to speak.

Laughing I did notice that yes.

In the Radio Times they have Senderos in their preview as "The Swiss Rooney" (i.e. "key player", i think). Not a clue... it's sad how much they focus on the English-based players. Personally i think the best thing about the Euro's is getting to see all the players in Euro play each other, and particularly those that we don't get to see week-in, week-out.

ever noticed that mark lawrenson has a special power?
he always knows what's going to happen on the replays as you'll hear him say, "i think that you'll see", before anyone has even seen the replay.
john motson is terrible and people only know him because he's a t!t
andy gray harps on about how great something is forgetting to say anything about the game.

two commentators i would pick would be martin tyler and that crazy spanish one that shouts gooooaaaaaaaalllll!!!!!!!

Alan Hanson and Andy Gray are both decent.

Guilliem Ballague(sp) who does the Spanish Football is the best.

That was good.

AS for BBC raving about Seneros, what a joke! Senderos is sh*t. Why rave about someone who is so sh*t, just because he plays in England?!

At least ITV raved about a player who is worthy of the attention.

And i'm glad they credited Pauleta by mentioning how he has scored many goals over the years for Portugal, because in world cup 06 the BBC took the [beep!] out of him and implied he was a poor footballer. He's probably been the best striker consistently in France for the last decade! BBC ignored that though.

Find a Japanese channel and enjoy the commentators, they're actually pretty good even though you only understand some names.
