Czech Republic Vs Portugal

How do you all see this game going this afternoon?

Both sides have a win each from there opening games
and who ever picks up all 3 points will go through to the knockout stages...

or will we both teams just be happy to pick up a point each?

Czech Republic 0 v 1 Portugal is my prediction today!

Portugal to win easilly. The Czech's have nothing going forward at all but don't really seem to sorts to park to team coach in front of the goal. Considering they are up against Portugal so will almost certainly have under 40% possession they are not likely to score. Defensively the Czech's are solid but Portugal will break them down at some point in my opinion.

Portugal 2-0 for me.

This is probably the most important game in the group, the top two teams in group A will both be looking for 3 points here. I think Portugals attacking flair will be enough to break down the czech defence. Also Portugals defence are strong enough to cope with any attack that the czechs produce.

i'll predict a comfortable 2-0 win for Portugal.

Well i'm wanting czech to win aswell because they are the underdogs and are still trying to play their football. It's good to see.

What a joke of a man Ronaldo is!! He hardly got hit and he went down like he got shot.

Good game so far. I'm supporting Portugal because they play football as it was meant to be played, that is to say beautiful passing football.

It was a good match. The football of Czech Republic is good but they were unlucky against a defensive Portuguese team. The Czechs are dangerous on the corners, they were able to score few times but were unlucky.

Fairly good game i felt, certainly closer than the final scoreline suggests. Matejovsky i thought added far more creativity and flair to the Czech Midfield and Baros provided a more mobile option up top than that of Jan Koller. The Portugese were overran at times but they were good going forward and three decent goals, the last coming as the Czechs were throwing everything forward.

Galasek my man of the match, protected that back four well and made a number of decent tackles in that holding role.

Scoreline flattered the Portuguese a bit. The Czechs had so many spells where they pressed the Portuguese Defence well. They looked stronger in the middle and looked dangerous when the ball was flighted into the box.

Koller should have been on earlier. Baros worked hard but there was never any support. They clearly missed the likes of Rosický and Nedved - but you can't fault the performances of the likes of Sionko, Polak and Matejovsky who were all solid.

Ronaldo's goal came out of nothing and it was a surprise goal, well taken by the lad. I didn't think he played very well as Grygera silenced him on the Wing and when he came inside he was well cut out often by the likes of Galasek and Polak.

I was particularly impressed by Polak and Deco. Both had good games and for most part I thought the Czechs won the battle in there - if only they had better quality in their attacking quarters. Portugal had that extra bit of expertise and class up front, whilst Baros really struggled to get much of a look in. Sionko came close a few times and was also impressive, but never really troubling Ricardo.

I wasn't really impressed by the Portuguese though. Pepe was a bit suspect at the back - even a lone Baros troubled him quite a few times. Ferreira was hassled a lot by Sionko and Bosingwa made a few sloppy mistakes, but you can forgive him as he does a smashing job down the flank with his pace & strength.

I don't mark them as favourites in my book - semis at the most.

Great moment in this game was when Quaresma came on and tried a fancy stepover only to tackle himself and nearly fall over. Then to embarrass him more, Scolari pulls him over and tells him to play properly and run forwards with the ball.

Good match. Czechs looked alright when Koller was on with 2 up top but you coul tell Portugal would probably break forward and nick another one . A few corners and crosses that caused trouble for the Portugese defence, which is good because they actually got a bit of a test.
Whatever they score, we will score more seems the philosophy.

I really like that formation for Portugal. Nuno Gomes not scored yet, but some great forward play by him in that lone role. I think thats why it was good match. Both teams employed the same system, but Portugal had the better players for it. Baros did well in that lone role for Czech Republic, like Nuno Gomes.

Far better from the Czech Republic and playing with Baros instead of Koller paid off big time. They were the better team over many periods of the match and really should have earned a draw, but then you only ever thought they'd score from set-pieces, such was their lack of cutting edge.

Portugal were pathetic dealing with balls into the box to be honest, and against a much better side than the ailing Czech Republic will see them pay.

I abhor Tyldseley. Ronaldo scores - "It had to be him." Why!? He'd been distinctly average throughout the entire match; whenever he got the ball the Czech's just took it off him equally as quick. He did very little. But let's put this into some perspective, he's an almighty suck-up and a tit.

I think Germany - Portugal could be a terrific match in prospect, should they meet (as is likely). Both are a little frail at the back but excel going forward. Can only mean something good.

Ok i have to say that ronaldo had a decent game against quite a good team in Czech rep. He was very quiet much of the time ,but was still able to make a contribution.
