Looking at it again, i do think that was a justified penalty decision. Panucci had his arm around the Romanian, who i think was Niculae, and was pulling him back in that manner.

using this meter the referee should have give the penalty on Toni, same situation in one episode
so for romania you give the penalty and for italy not? Ovrebo is a psychologist, I think its better for football if he stops doing referee and continue with psychology

i wouldnt have given it personally.

that kind of thing happens and has been happening in every game.

if they are going to blow up for that kind of thing then they need to be consistent. you could argue the romanian was leaning back into Panucci leaving him no option to try and nip round him to win the ball. bodily contact will happen. its unavoidable. just because there is contact it does not mean there was a foul.

id love to see peoples reaction (and the media) if those decisions had gone against England.

Yeah perhaps, it was harsh i agree but i was just trying to make the point that you could see why it was given.

Yeah, it was a harsh.

If at the start of the tournament they sent out a warning to all nations saying they won't stand for that sort of thing, and were consistent in punishing people for that, then i'd say penalty. You wouldn't be able to complain as you would've been warned.

That's not the case though, so it was harsh. Fortunately Gigi saved the day.

I'm sorry, Yessicajax, but it's also too easy to say "poor referee, it's not his fault", when it is HE who makes the decisions. Unfortunately they have no equipment to aid them, and the linesmen are in the same condition. It just doesn't seem fair to see nations knocked out ALSO due to harsh, wrong, or inconsistent decisions.

No, I don't believe there is bribery going on this time, but it's just as hard to prove that a referee still it doesn't put the record straight... I'm still not sure Holland would've been able to counter like they did had their opponents not been put on the extreme offensive due to dubious decisions....

if you lose with 4-1 you cant blame the referee anymore.
that poland blame the referee (with in the last minut a penalty for switzerland (or was it austria)) then i understand. but dont blame him if you lose with 4-1 Wink

Thats what football is all about, right and wrong decisions. No1 is perfect. Not even the italian players are perfect. If italian players are perfect some players wouldnt fall very easy. They would be honest players and keep to there feet.
But thats football

You don't really need to be perfect to see an obvious onside goal..

funny things always happens at the end

Uefa justified the episode of the regular goal saying that delpiero was offside
now, I dont know if they consider us stupids, I just wonder if they really checked the episode

a complete lost of credibility From Uefa, they even didnt speak with Ovrebo, who admitted the error

Uefa is a disgrace, if it could depend on me I would retire the team from the competition

the funny thing is that you are a bad winner, instead, probably because you've never do it
I wonder how you'd react if your team was in this situation, probably accusing us of cheating, like everyone always do

They scored 2 goals and saved the controversial penalty, conceded 1 goal - surely 2-1 is a win? Be it played bad or good

Italy Vs Romania
