Thats Oceania for you mate.

Australia have played off against Israel in 3 different locations in the world within a week in the past, Brazil, Iran, Uruguay (three times, 3rd time we made it Cool)

Now we're AFC and have a much clearer route to the final.

New Zealand dominate Oceania in our absense. Australia won games 12-0, 14-0 and even set a record of 31-0 against American Samoa with *useless* Archie Thompson scoring a record 13 goals that game. We even had a shot from halfway at the start of the second half, that the keeper dropped and almost conceded from Laughing

That is a bit harsh on NZ still having to play a play-off, despite winning the group, and the OFC Nations cup.

Aren't FIFA being a bit picky though. surely they could combine these counties will another nation. 4 countries in their own separate qualifying group seems pointless for me.

Oceania is made up of numerous nations. Thats just the 'final stage' before the play-off.

Other countries either decide not to attempt qualifying or they get knocked out early on.
