Never mind all this business about Kaka and Ronaldo joining Real Madrid

Or even Micheal Owen signing for Man Utd

West Ham have raised the stakes by signing Kelvin Davis on a free transfer from Southampton.

He will provide back up for Robert Green Englands No1

Rob Green is a legend for having Englands number 6 printed on his gloves!

I thought that was brilliant also!

I would have been upset thinking that the likes of Scott Carson and Chris Kirkland
were ahead of me in the pecking order so you can hardly blame him for that gesture!

Quote:
HAMMERS manager Gianfranco Zola is set to reappoint Lucas Neill as captain in a bid to keep him at the club.

Paddy Dominguez, Neill's agent, said: "We are giving them every chance to reach an agreement."

It looks like Lucas Neill might be staying after all then!

Other news.

Centre Back Danny Gabiddon has fully recovered from his long term injury and will be ready for the new season.

Lee Bowyer has left the Hammers and joined Birmingham on a free transfer.

he is being offered a pay cut - hence the indecision.

i dont think he could be easily replaced. Neill is a hugely influential player on and off the pitch. he has the respect of the entire squad and many of them have said he is by far the best captain they have ever played with.

football is not all just about the 90 minutes on the pitch.

they could certianly take over the armband if Neill leaves.

Neill is a far, far better player than Spector.

West Ham have "stolen" say some reports Chelsea youth team striker Frank Nouble.

The 6ft 3 inch 17 year old forward has a similar physical presence to that of Carlton Cole.

Nouble said " I rejected Chelsea and I am just happy that West Ham came in".

Chelsea offered the lad a 5 year year contract but he turned it down as were a better prospect for him.

You can imagine the outcry in the next couple of years were he to score the winning goal against them!

Still no news regarding Lucas Neill....If he doesnt come back we'll have to start with Spector as are regular right back!

he msut be a pretty hot prospect for chelsea to be dishing out 5 year deals.

i imagine Clarke knows a lot about him also.

as a club we are getting some good contacts whcih attracts lpayers we never could before - more promising signs.

Arsenal were also interested in Frank Nouble but he decided to join you guys, I can understand why aswell. Your youth players get a chance in the premier league if he had joined Arsenal he'd probably play one or two carling cup games and then go back into the youth set up.

Just thought I'd mentioned that Freddy Sears has scored in his first two games for us and has generally been playing brilliantly.

We've been putting him on the right of a 4-3-3 which, apparently, isn't his favoured position. He told the local rag, though, that he doesn't mind as long as he is playing.

Fair play to the "HAPPY HAMMERS" on getting Frank Nouble makes a change from Chelsea nicking all your players

that is good to hear.

i think playing in the championship should toughen him up which is his biggest problem.

once he bulks up he could be very good.

Zola's not happy with his attitude and application to his fitness schedule.

Ashton is, in general, a moody and miserable bloke and it rubs off in his attitude.

whether he will be sold or not is uncertain.

personally id be suprised unless there was good reason for it. ie a big offer, doubts over long term fitness or a replacement was already lined up.

id like to see him repay the club for getting him through his injury although i suspect he is a bit bitter that the club rushed him back initially which led to the extended injury period.

why he would go to Stoke is beyond me however.

if i were to place a bet id say he will still be a west ham player by the start of the season.
