Yank needs some help |
|
Ok, first of all Premier League is the greatest league in the world and so glad I found english football. It has pretty much turned me off to american sports, but none the less I come with a question.
Q. What is used to determine a players value? is it contract value, transfer value or what? really confused by it and can not find any definitions online. I ask this because last year G Barry was valued at 6.5 million pounds. what determined 6.5? and how does Villa ask for 20 million now? A yank really wanting to understand the greatest game in the world. |

Hi, welcome to the site mate
As for your question there are 100's if not 1000's of factors influencing a players price, but mostly it is just the result of the negotiations between the two clubs wanting to trade them. The selling club might only sell him for a certain figure and the buying club might only wish to pay a certain amount for him.yers Soem major factors to take into consideration tho are: 1. Players age (if theyve only got a few playing years left they arent worth so much) 2. The length of their contract left (cos they can leave for free at the end of their contract a club might be forced to cash in on them for a lesser amount if theres not much time left) 3. A players ability obviously 4. The 'richness' of the buying club (if the seller knows you have a lot of money and want their player they will hold out for a inflated price eg Chelsea) 5. Players willingness to leave (if everyone knows a player is desperate to leave the selling club doesnt really have the choice of saying well we'll just keep him then, they might have to accept an offer they arent happy with) and so on and so on |

also i would like to add the players form has a very big factor in the price such as in the G.Barry situation he imo has had an outstanding season and has been doing very well not only for aston villa but in the england game against the USA i thaugh he did superb wen he got subbed on so this has a very big factor in the price of him but imo i dont think he is worth 20 mil

Clubs sometimes over-value there players to stop other clubs from getting them, like AC Milan wanting £60/70 million for Kaka to keep other teams off him when in truth hes worth about £35-40 million

players value is determined by many things. 1. Length of contract left to run 2. Players age 3. Players potential 4. Players current ability 5. Players importance to club 6. Clubs willingness to sell those are the main things to consider behind any transfer really. there may be other factors but they are the key ones. its also important to note that ability alone is not always reflected in transfer value. |

how much the player was bought for and the the financial situation of the selling club, i.e if they need money, they may up their price. Its supply and demand in some cases

Going y the recent goings on ,it's all down to being half decent , how sexy you are and how many papers you can sell.
I'll tell you what doesn't determine the players price ,the players ability. there isn't a man alive who can justify John Terry getting paid more weekly than Makelele or essien. Or Carrick worth more twice as much as Diarra ,what a laugh. I wish it were down to how a player performs against the top level teams and consistency ,but it ain't. |
