Troubles for Germany

Ahead of their quarter-final clash with Portugal, it is now known that Löw will be sitting in the stands. UEFA have given him and Austria head coach Josef Hickersberger a one game suspension for their bickering with the fourth official. Assistant Hansi Flick will be taking the helm in Löw's absence.

Further Germany woes is that Podolski and Frings are in doubt for the match. Podolski has a calf injury and Frings suffered a fractured rib in the last match.
