Now this is a serious thread, no need to insult anyone like the other thread.
As it's been said, Spain have not beaten Italy in a official match in the last 88 years, but we recently beat the italian squad in a friendly (1-0).
14 years ago both teams played eachother and Italy won 2-1, that was when Tassotti broke Luis Enrique's nose and the ref saw nothing. We'll see what happens on sunday...

Well done Raul for starting a thread without the need to insult anybody...

I will post my thoughts on here a bit nearer the time as the game isnt until Sunday.

I wonder what Aragones will do now after Alonso and Fabregas both had such good games against Greece?

Italy to win it for me because they are on the way up and it is difficult to score a goal against them as usual. Also they cannot be wasteful again as they did against us, so the combination of strong defence and an attack that will make up makes me think that Spain will have a hard time to score one goal.

Didn't know arrogants could be used as a noun.

I dig it.

I wouldn't call myself arrogant, I'd call myself intelligent.

Nope sorry, I didn't mean any of you nor even Del Piero. It's just that I saw something a journalist wrote in "Gazzetta dello Sport" yesterday and I was mad at him. He was making fun of the height of players like Villa, Xavi and Cazorla.

Italy for me, Spain always do well in the group stages then fall apart in the knocout rounds, probably wont change this time.

Italy will close down their attackers and Spain are one of those teams that look great when theyre playing well but they dont grind out wins like Italy & Germany.

Id like to see Spain do it but I think Italy will come out on top

I think that if Italy are more accurate up-front, Spain don't stand a chance. That is, however, the problem. Italy have probably had more concrete chances of scoring than any other team, but their scoring percentage is extremely low (even if we consider the disallowed goal).

At the same time, I can imagine Spain closing Italy well, adding distance between Italy's midfield and attack, which could neutralise Italy. If Spain have possession, and Italy don't press them, things won't be good for Italy.

I won't even take into consideration the fact that Spain haven't beaten Italy in a long time - it's all rubbish, and certainly won't make any difference.

Italy's play seems to be on the up, which generally makes them so strong after the group phase. Spain always starts excellently, but then they start losing it.

There are many arrogant people on earth, but I don't think the Italy team can be defined in those terms. They actually seem pretty reserved, and tend not to speak about their opponents.

The spanish press is not so nice toward us as well. Don't believe what the press say, i found very disgusting the Luis Enrique thing for example.. Why talk about vengeance.?? It's a football match, the best will win, stop. Rolling Eyes
