I swear on my life i was going to put Rustu on my list ,but i got so caught up on David James and Brad Freidel i lost focus. The reason i was going to put him on my list was because of his play with Barca and his performance in the the world. I just watched some hi lights of the turkey v Croatia game and couldn't believe my eyes when i caught Rustu in goal, and i knew then that he had some type of impact in this game. I saw the result previous to the clips and wondered what the F*ck happened. When i saw that long kick into the opposing penalty area by Rustu my prediction was confirmed. The man is a big time goal keeper and his performances were often overlooked by the so called experts. Even in this Turkey game he didn't get enough credit ,i didn't even know he was in the squad.
Anyway he was one of my favourite goalies ever ,because he showed a natural respect for his opposing players. I am so happy for him right now and because of him i will be rooting for Turkey big time.

Isnīt Rustu the sub keeper for Turkey? He only played because their first choice got a red card against Czech.

No, but seriously, that list is crappy in my opinion

It's not 100% accurate as there aren't many great goalkeepers here anymore, and back in the time there were many. The award is an easy prey for Buffon because he is so classy as a keeper and no other keeper is really threatening his position so far.

We saw Cech and Casillas, where the first sent his team out of Euro and the latter easily conceded the goal against Sweden - come on, if it was Van Der Sar or Buffon they probably would've kicked the ball away or caught it.

Buffon has received 4 goals so far in this Euro, while Casillas only 2. And Italy got a better defense Wink

Yep and the Russians beat the Dutch, so Spain must be really great along with Casillas to have only conceded a single goal against them.

Let's see how many goals great Casillas will save tomorrow. It's stupid to compare him to Buffon, because we know who the better one is.

Sure. Casillas.

We saw it already in March (1-0 for Spain, Villa scored a superb goal. Buffon is still looking for the ball) Wink

Perhaps that was because he went absolutely awol for the Croatia goal and was at fault for it?

Then saved a crucial penalty to send his team through to the semi finals of euro 2008. Makes up for his 1 mistake surely?

I was merely pointing out why perhaps the praise for his performance wasn't as large as it could have been.

He actually only managed to save the last penalty kick and the rest were screw ups by Modric and co.

The Iraqi keeper did actually better than him on penalties against Korea, but nonetheless he made some good saves, but I wouldnīt say great.

And not just that, we're also comparing it to other great keepers' career. Rustu isn't number one or he would've been bought by a better club and started for Turkey, believe me Smile,

Actually, i was discussing your point about how you thought he didn't get enough praise for the Croatia game the other night.

Eyes are useful sometimes Wink

Casillas didn't concede after 17+ shots on him and Casillas barely got 5 shots. They both saved penalties so how is Casillas better than Buffon again?

Raul, honestly, Buffon could not do better because of our Defence. You say we have a good defense. You wrong, beside Chiellini they sucks and without Cannavaro we are nothing.

Trust me, I respect Buffon a lot, and I know he's a very good keeper. I just think Casillas is better, but that's my opinion and I know you respect it (even if you don't share it). I'm just trying to shut one big mouth here, for not being respectful towards Spain.
I don't normally do this when my team wins, but this time I can only laugh at certain comments. But I'm not disrespecting Buffon nor the italians (one of my fav members here is italian - Bati - and he's always respectful), but I gotta post this for one reason Smile
