This is a do or die for both nations as the second spot in the group is up for grabs. Qatar must win to advance while Iraq can advance with a win or draw.

The match will be in Dubai.

Who do you think will take the second spot and qualify for the 4th round of the 2010 AFC World Cup qualifying. Both nations have been quite even thus far with identical records and both having scored 4 goals in their matches. The only difference in the numbers between the two is that Qatar has given up one extra goal (6).

Match will be on Sunday 22 June.

If the Iraq manages to draw/win then they will go on to the final qualifiers. Only way Qatar can go through is if they beat Iraq like they've done in their first match. I hope Iraq qualify for the WC.

The story is over, but 'should it be' is the question. Is Blatter and his cronies up to no good? This all seems a bit strange to me. Who's in bed with whom here?

See link on story as it appeared in my local paper today.

Comments?

Well this right here explains it all: The president of the Asian Football Confederation is Mohammed bin Hammam, who is from Qatar and is a member of FIFA's powerful executive committee. He also is a close ally of FIFA president Sepp Blatter and was instrumental in Blatter's two successful re-election campaigns.

That alone would sway the voting/decision towards Qatar.

I'm not sure what the point of all the other stuff in the article saying Qatar are known to buy players for their national sport teams. Many other countries do the same thing, including America (who have bought many athletes from around the world to compete in the Olympics as 'American's').

The guts of the article were about what has happened with CAS and FIFA, or in this case what hasn't happened. If in fact Qatar is 'hiring' and having 'athletes change their names', combined with knowledge of past passport issues with players, I think some of those points are legit to mention...... Again, just my opinion.....
