I wouldn't say the best player ever as there are other players perhaps just as good (Shearer), but he is one heck of a candidate - definitely in the starting-XI of all time (EPL)

alan shearer was a goal scorere ( a good one) thats all he was. Thierry was a magician, he had outrageous skills, scored sublime goals and he always produced in the big games( v real, juventus, inter, roma etc)

Shearer was a great scorer but he was nothing like the player Henry was. There are great goal scorers across the world but very few players like Henry.

But they're both attackers and Shearer did the job better than Henry. A forwards job is to score goals and Shearer knew where the goal was, even with a team like Newcastle. It was easier for Henry to score because he was with Arsenal, a title contenders.

Henry or Berkgamp are the best players ever in the EPL imo.

At Arsenal Henry scored every 1.45 games.

Shearer scored every 1.23 games for Blackburn and every 2.08 games for Newcastle, combined it was a goal every 1.69 games.

So no, Henry had a better goal ratio.

Also worth bearing in mind is that two thirds of Shearer's goals came in the dark days of modern English football in the nineties when the league was vastly inferior to Spain and Italy and thus scoring goals was easier. Henry on the other hands played his entire Arsenal career in a far tougher league.

He played in a far tougher league with a far better team. Newcastle haven't won the league for ages and he managed all these goals. Look at Adebayor, he managed 24 because he is with Arsenal, had he been playing for Tottenham or Newcastle (Berbatov, Robbie Keane) he wouldn't have scored so many goals.

Shearer is the top scorer of EPL

I would disagree and say Bergkamp. By far.

Henry is definitely better than Bergkamp when it comes to scoring, but Bergkamp is the king of assists making over 100 assists I believe.

I think Henry in his heyday was by and large the best player on Earth nevermind the EPL. He missed recognition for it only because FIFA and UEFA would never allow an Arsenal player to be world or European player of the year.

In one season he topped the scoring and assist charts which is amazing for any player in any team. Furthermore he scored spectacular goals from any angle whether up close or from range and he had amazing pace and strength coupled with close control, trickery and touch that appeared majestic. I've seen him take the ball in his own half and dribble through defences like they weren't there. I've seen him score amazing freekicks and rob a goalkeeper of the ball as he took a goal kick.

He is an intelligent person, a player who carried his wit and charisma onto the football field. There were times when he would baffle us and defy what we thought was possible. He was a footballing artist - the quintessential attacker who perhaps lacked only aerial ability to make him perfect.

I laugh when people say Ronaldo is superior. Such people obviously lack openess of mind and the ability to deviate from their own biasness to see that Henry was on a higher plane. Ask Ronaldo who his favourite player is.

That's right.

I've seen many types of players - many regarded as the next Zidane, Maradonna, Pele, Adams etc. Henry was unique and I am proud to have had the pleasure of seeing him play for my club the way he did.

Furthermore I doubt there'll ever be another player like him. Ever.

That's a stupid claim... Henry didn't win the Champions League and you need to do that to become the worlds best player. In the invincible year of Arsenal they reached the CL final and he screwed it up. I know he's pretty great but there were also other great people at the same time as he lived. I can't say they were better than him, but they won silverware.

Gianfranco Zola was superior to Henry and Berkgamp for skills, shots, freekicks. You are speaking because you are fans of your clubs. The fact is Zola was the number one in EPL even if he didn't win so much. Surprised

I wouldn't usually respond to the likes of you calling me stupid but whatever. Arsenal did not make the CL final in the invincible season. We did it afterward - losing to offside goals and bad refereeing and don't talk sh*t to me please. Henry has plenty of silverware including 2 doubles and a waft of FA Cups. He also has a World Cup and a European Championship to his name.

If you're going to call a true footballing fanatic stupid get your facts straight by consulting wikipedia beforehand. And ch-chikity-check yourself before you wreck yourself biatch. Mad

Without question Henry was the best "Striker" to ever play in the premiership, his goals and assist stats ends any debate.
