Thierry Henry is looking to prove his fitness for the FA Cup final in Sunday's final Premier League game of the season when Arsenal travel to Birmingham.

The 27-year-old made his comeback from a groin injury as a second-half substitute in Arsenal's 7-0 rout of Everton at Highbury on Wednesday night.

He showed no signs of having been absent for the previous month, even though - for once - he failed to get on the scoresheet, and his fitness was being reassessed on Thursday.

Arsene Wenger nevertheless revealed his intention to hand Henry a starting role against Birmingham to prove his sharpness for the following weekend's clash against Manchester United in Cardiff.

The Gunners boss declared: "Thierry looks like he didn't suffer physically but we will have to see how he reacts. Maybe he will play for 90 minutes at Birmingham City on Sunday and then we can go from there."

Henry added: "I feel great, it was a great result. I just wanted to go out and have a run, and that is what I did.

"I always enjoy playing football, I wanted to be part of the game as it was an amazing match. It was the last game of the season at Highbury, so the fans enjoyed it.

"But you have to say also it was a great season for Everton. That will still stay in their mind, that they had a great season."

Sol Campbell also made his injury comeback against Everton, starting his first game in more than three months, alongside Philippe Senderos.

"Sol was a bit nervous at the start but he got better and better as the game went on and he was outstanding in the second-half," observed Wenger.

Campbell may again start against Birmingham, with possibly Senderos given a rest if Kolo Toure is recalled to the side.

Wenger will also be hoping Freddie Ljungberg and Gilberto are passed fit for Sunday's game.

Gilberto missed the game against Everton with an ankle injury, while Ljungberg recently had a minor operation on a hip problem.

Wenger revealed Ljungberg would play for at least 45 minutes at Birmingham to test his fitness ahead of the FA Cup final.

The Arsenal boss told the club's website: "Freddie's doing better and better. Maybe I will give him a half at Birmingham to see how he is.

"I may leave out a few players and give them a breather - those who have played two or three games on the trot - but otherwise we will play with a top team and we'll go there trying to win.

"We want to reach 86 points, which would be a remarkable total. Also, I think it is important to keep our run going and the confidence high."
