Russian Football Federation president Vitaly Butko claims playmaker Andrei Arshavin has his heart set on a move to Barcelona...

Quote:

Butko told Spanish newspaper Sport: "Andrei has a dream to play for Barcelona, it is, together with the Russian national team, his favourite team."

He added: "He could easily play and show all his quality at Barcelona. Andrei doesn't have less quality than players like Deco."

Zenit coach Dick Advocaat has already revealed that Arshavin has told Zenit he wants a move abroad.

"Arshavin has told us his intention is to change clubs," he said. "And we are already looking for a replacement if his departure is confirmed."

He's a fantastic player and more importantly he's on form atm. So if he can take that form to club level he'll be a very very valuable player for any team he's going to sign... Wish he could come to Arsenal though...

He's the Russian genius, I don't think he will be bought by the very biggest teams yet though, maybe Villareal or Sevilla first.

Yet? He's 27, he does not have time to waste at this stage of his career. In my opinion, Arshavin is a very good player indeed and would be hugely beneficial to any squad in Europe. I think one of the biggest clubs as you put it will be his next destination without question. He won't come cheap though, neither his fee or indeed his wages will be small time.

He’ll probably go to Spurs. Everybody seems to. Rolling Eyes

I’d absolutely kill for him to be playing for Liverpool next season, but if we have to compete with other sides I fear it limits our chances of signing him from slim to non-existent.

Seems like Rom is already in for him with a £20m bid. Looks like he will be Chelsea bound.

He will go to barcelona me thinks.

He's good enough for any team. Barcelona looks a good shout but they are signing Hleb who is a similar player. He'd be perfect for Arsenal and I'd love to have him at Man Utd.

He'd be the perfect replacement to Ronaldinho. He's perfect for Barcelona's formation.

It's a real shame, and i've given up on my dream of him joining Liverpool.

He's rumoured to be on £50k a week which is, apparently, too steep for Barcelona but not Chelsea.

I can see opposition fans coming up with some good twists on his unfortunate name Arse Shaving Wink

He has said hed prefer to go to Spain as he thinks it suits his style of play better which is probably true but he also said there are currently no offers from any Spanish clubs and if Barca wont pay his wages i doubt anyone else could appart from Real Madrid but i think they are in the market for better younger players. Arshavin also said that there are offers from England, he hasnt said he wouldnt move to England just hed prefer Spain so at the moment id say its a 50/50 split between England and Spain. I think hed do well at Arsenal as his style of football is similar to that of Arsenal, he may do well at Liverpool. I cant see Manchester United going for him and i doubt hed join anyone outside the top 4. Im not sure wheteher or not hed fit in well at Chelsea but hes a very good player from what ive seen and probably do well were ever he went, just think if he does come to England it will be with Arsenal. Evil or Very Mad

What about Nasri though? Would they go for both?

True, its not like Wenger to spend huge amounts and after spending around 15million on Nasri they may not even bother trying for Arshavin, you never know though. Maybe a move to Chelsea could be on then unless a major club in Spain come in for him, we will just have to wait and see how things pan out.

I don't believe that Barca won't pay his wages. Barca probably pay Ronaldinho more than double that.

No chance Wenger is going to splash out on Arshavin.

I can see him arriving at Barcelona.

Nasri claims that the deal with Arsenal is done, and it is thought that Wenger paid aroung 20 m for him (http://www.goal.com/en/articolo.aspx?contenutoid=748457)

He doesn´t like to spend a lot so I don't think he will go for him. I doubt Arshavin can play for the big teams just yet, he has to at least spend a year or two in one of the big leagues before he is ready. He might be an average player for a big club, but will not make that big of an impact I think.

Arshavin is more than good enough to play for big teams. He proved that by destroying Sweden and Holland on the biggest stage, and Bayern, Rangers and Leverkusen for Zenit in the UEFA cup.
