There may well still be problems, however it is more stable and less issues. The ad's are not overlapping the forum as before, the registration process is quicker for new members, and authorisation is nice and easy. This means that members are authorised quicker than before where I had to manually process each application myself.

The forum is under more load now than ever before. At times there is a requirement to upgrade certain things on the forum. You guys may see it as an inconvenience at times, however most of the time it is a vital upgrade.

We will always try and pre-warn you when work is planned, however this is not always possible.

I cannot believe we have lost all those posts, some real decent discussion amongst them.

well in my opnion there are silly little things that annoy , the `ManU` problem , when any word has `ManU` in it it comes out like you have just shown when you posted the word `Manually` .

The problem where you cannot post a video or some pictures with team names or whatever , you cannot post more than one video on the same page .

A new problem is the descriptions underneathe the topic titles , they no longer go all the way across so you have less space to fill in a suitable description ..

I`m not saying the look of the site is rubbish , and a lot is better but for me the forum is not as fast as it was , maybe it is my work computer partly to blame , i want to know what others think , do they find it slow at all ...is everyone happy with the forum and how it runs .

This post right here highlights the sort of problems we faced 12 months ago.

The forum was indeed going down almost daily - especially overnight and over the weekends where we couldn't get it back up. We are definately seeing less of this.

no im with you conner, and im glad you are saying all this. good to see a bit of authority speaking 'out of line' (as i always expect from you)

the forum, for me, is extremely slow. now it is slower than ever. ive had countless times where i have written a post and clicked on a 'smilie' to add at the end and that has deleted the entire post in place of a winking face or whatever. its pathetic. also many occasions have seen me type a huge post, click the submit button and then the server or something f*cks up and the entire post is completely gone and i have to do it again. it is beyong annoying.

of course it aint always like this but the fact is it should not be like this at all, especially not for the frequency these problems occur. there are much bigger and more used forum on the web that dont crash and burn as regularly as this one. why is this?

the way the forum looks dont bother me, if anything id say it looks better now but all i want is to be able to post and know that post will remain the next day and that very next day im again able to access the forum.

if the hardware or whatever is overworked id say it must be sh*t hardware, not that i know anything about this but i dont see any other sites crashing down in flames like this one does.

it is frustrating, annoying and really p*sses me off.

Yeah i agree with that. I think the problems were more frequent a few months ago, even a year perhaps, when the forum went down repetitively each day.

But for me losing this many posts is by far the most annoying thing to have happened/.

the thing is, where i use this at work it slows my entire system down and f*cks me up with trying to work as well.

it would undoubtedly stop people coming onto the forum.

This is to do with advertising banners - if you use Firefox, and install the adblocker, this would speed up the forum for you on older "work" pc's. The ad's are here to stay guys.

dont get me wrong , i`m not trying to create a rebellion here , i dont know how hard you guys work on this site ...or how much you get paid or if you get paid ...i dont know anything about how difficult it is maintaing servers , configuring this and writing code for that ...etc .

But all that is irrelevant to us ....all we see is `forum slow` cannot post this , post lost ...etc the problem Steely mentioned with the smiley causing the whole post to vanish..that has been around for a few years now ...why ? Do we have to copy and paste every post we write in case that happens .

I can't compare the state of the forum to what it was like a year ago but there are a few things that p!ss me off. The main one was the smilie problem. I don't know if that is fixed but i had to re do many of my posts. Now i just copy the text before i use a smilie. It is amazing how annoying that can be. I sometimes get the general error message and the forum is often slow. I don't think i am saying anything new here, but there is room for improvement. I'm not saying it is as easy as identifying the problems but it can sometimes p!ss the user off pretty bad. I can't believe we lost a few days worth of posts. If i had of posted much in that time i would not be happy.

Regarding the smilie problem, I was not aware this issue was still ongoing.

I always use quick reply, and when writing smilies, I use the following

Code:
:) or ;)

I never click on the smilies themselves just to use them. I can certainly get this issue looked into for you.

It would be more beneficial for you guys to collate a list of errors/bugs that you find on the forum. I can look into getting them resolved then. Not everything will be resolved immediately, however we can certainly try and resolve the minor glitches.

Regarding the smilies, what are you experiencing?

I am making this post with the POST REPLY option, and have selected the following smilie by using the options on the left. Mad

It is working ok for me?

well i think when some of us have written a post , we then add whatever smilie we want to the end . When we actually click on the smilie the whole post dissapears leaving just the smilie .......it does not happen all the time...just at the worst possible times ..ie after writing a long post ...etc .

Well it serves you right for posting during work hours doesn't it??!! BRRAAPP BRRRAAAAPP BRAAAAAPPPPPP!!! Laughing Wink

I've been away from the forum for a while but at least it explains why there has been so little discussion concerning the Euro final and the Ronaldo transfer saga.

Steely is bang on about the loss of posts due to adding a smilie and clicking submit etc. I copy my posts regularly before clicking submit now to avoid losing them. So annoying having to retype long posts Evil or Very Mad

If I am writing a long post, I always copy it out of habit. Again this stems from when we were having daily down time on the forum. I haven't lost a post in a long time now to be honest with you.

How many people actually have this problem with the smilies? How often does it happen? What browsers do you use? I need browser and version.

Intermittant issues are always the hardest to diagnose and resolve - therefore the more information we have the better.

One way to "fix" the smilie delete thing is to hit ctrl+z and it will go back to before you hit the smilie button. But that was a huge annoyance.

Not to mention the whole submit glitch where after writing a huge post only to have it go to waste.

It just seems like when one thing is fixed another has a problem.
