I started this with a few mates a while back, but are there any players you can think of who haven't yet represented their country but deserve a call-up and a chance to earn themselves a cap?

My choice was Fabio Aurelio. Personally reckon he's good enough to represent Brazil at left back, but then i suppose they have competition in most positions...

Anyone else?

I think Raul is past it mate. I don't actually think he's past it, but i think as long as Torres and Villa keep doing what they do then theres no real chance for him. He'll still keep banging them in for Real for a while to come yet though.

Yeah, maybe. But there are always squad places.

Mexes, Flamini, Sagna, Trezeguet, and Squillaci, and a handful of French goal keepers.

What does that tell you about Dominech.

true true true. All of them should be given a chance. Beats me as to why Domenech is still in charge after that dismal Euro campaign. They were absolutely appauling.

Aurellio shouldn't even start for Liverpool never mind Brazil.

Why have Raul, Trezeguet etc been mentioned? They may not be in favour now but have won plenty of caps for their country.

Yeah i didn't really wanna mention that because i wasn't sure whether Sticky had missed the point or not. But i suppose players who haven't played for their country in a while and have deserved to could fit into this....

What makes you say that? You not reckon the reason Benitez got rid of Riise is so Aurelio can establish himself properly?

"Domenech's record is not that bad as coach. It is not catastrophic," said FFF president Jean-Pierre Escalettes.

That is the funniest reason I've ever heard for someone keeping their job.

Back to topic I think Mexes should have been starting for France along time ago. And Ivan De La Pena for Spain, although it's too late for him now.

First of all I'd thank to congratulate G_Man in becoming the forum funny man. Keep up the good work.

Secondly, I don't rate Aurellio at all. Decent for a mid-table side like maybe Blackburn or West Ham but I don't think he has what it takes to cut it at CL level. Far too wasteful on the ball and easily caught out when he's bombing forward. He'll be no more than another squad player this season. Dossena will be first choice. Thats the reason Riise was let go, he was never going to be happy being a 3rd choice left back
