Who is the world's best playmaker?

Technique, creativity and sublime passing ability are things you would associate with a top playmaker, the past has seen some exquisite playmakers such as Zidane, Zico and Platini, who is todays top playmaker?

(I've purposefully left out Ronaldinho as I've reserved it for people who play a more classic playmaker role of in behind the forwards)

Yeah Riquelme's out of this world when on form, it's a shame he never really cracked Europe.

In europe with vilareal he just couldnt keep his mouth shut, he thought he was bigger than the club where as in boca everyone over there treats him as a god.

Xavi.

I didn't think he was overly great at Euro 2008, he performed consistently though but he's a quality player and for me, the best central midfielder in the world.

Xavi or Iniesta. And maybe Pirlo. All 3 of them could pick a defence-splitting pass with their eyes closed!

Except he's not a playmaker, he's an average passer, has average vision but is an exceptional dribbler.

Any answer other than Riquelme and you aren't watching the same sport I am.

The times i have watched Riquelme play in the past he has been a joy to watch. However, i have not seen him play in the league this year. Plus i don't know if this is correct but in the Argentina Vs Brazil match the commentator said he had a poor season. Commentators talk crap 90% of the time so it will probably be wrong. From what i have seen this season i will go with Fabregas. When he is on form he can control a game. I will admit that he didn't have a great season right the way through but not every player does. I would love someone like him to play for Newcastle, but its never gonna happen.

Riquelme for me as well, similar player to Zidane in many ways, the way he just makes time for himself and makes everything look so effortless

He's been phenomenal for Boca this season.

Will we ever see him in the Prem though? He would walk into any team, so why are they not interested in him, i dont get it.

Because he's a moaner, he doesn't like training and he only really works if you build your entire team around him. He'd be a great signing for Newcastle imo. A bit of real class and supply to your exceptional strikeforce is what you need.

He is the type we need but waaaaay out of our league. Maybe a few seasons ago, but not now. Depending on what playmaker keegan gets it could make or brake our season, i know it won't be this bloke though.
