For Hull, this is an excellent signing, and on a free aswell.

Hull City have wrapped up the signing of Brazilian midfielder Geovanni on a free transfer.

Geovanni had been available after being released by Manchester City earlier this week following just one season with the club.

Premier League new boys Hull were quick to express an interest in the 28-year-old and have now clinched the deal.

The former Benfica player has signed a two-year contract at the KC Stadium and has joined his new team-mates at a pre-season training camp in Italy.

He seemed a useful player to me.

I have had a soft spot for Hull for a few years (used to be them on Champ man, when they were in division 3 Shocked). I think this is a great signing for the club. He showed that he was able to play at this level last season. Hopefully Phil Brown will be able to attract more players like this.

I'm undecided.

Hull is a side which will ultimately struggle let's face it and this could render him completely ineffective because defending is hardly a major part of his game.

Don't be surprised if he's relegated to the bench for a large part of the season in favour of someone with maybe less talent/flair but more work ethic.

But as you say, can't go wrong with a freebie.

Didn't see a great deal of him, but he looked fairly effective when i did watch him and a player with a relatively high reputation and fairly sound ability is a good signing for someone like Hull. I don't think anything will prevent them from suffering relegation come next May however.

And what Forev says is more than likely what will happen.

Didnt rate him first time he played in england

Hull City, newly promoted into the Premier League, have signed French defender Bernard Mendy on a free transfer. The 26-year-old agreed a three-year contract and became Tigers manager Phil Brown's third close-season signing.

Mendy worked with Brown during his previous spell in English football, on loan at Bolton Wanderers in 2003. Then, the former defender was assistant manager of the Trotters.

Mendy arrives in English football from Paris Saint-Germain, who he joined in 2000. He has won three caps for France.
