Chelsea have put a big-money offer on the table for Brazilian playmaker Kaka, AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said Sunday, without giving further details of the proposed deal.

"An astronomical offer has come in from Chelsea for Kaka," Galliani told Italian newspaper La Stampa, adding that club have also expressed interest in the club's World Cup winner Andrea Pirlo.

Despite failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, Galliani insisted the Rossoneri have been continuing to strengthen their squad and increase players' salaries.

"This means we'll be 50 million euros (78 million dollars) in the red," he said, adding: "All we would need to do in order to wipe out our debts is sell Kaka and Pirlo."

AC Milan have been linked with various players in the close season, including Barcelona duo Samuel Eto'o and Ronaldinho, and Arsenal's unsettled star Emmanuel Adebayor.

I'm not having a go or anything but when posting stories as links like that maybe can you write something of your own afterward, asking for certain opinions etc. It just creates more meaningful discussion is all.

Your view also after your word of advice be good also.

Was waiting for a reply as not got much interest in Chelsea.

My view though is he wont leave ac.milan. He signed a pretty big contact for ac.milan and he wont go to a smaller team

I don't think he will go even if AC accept the offer.

Aston Villa have agreed a deal to end Steve Sidwell's Chelsea nightmare. Villa manager Martin O'Neill has been chasing Sidwell for several months and will finally get his man this week for a fee of around £5 million, subject to the player passing a medical.

A Villa statement read: "Aston Villa have agreed to sign Chelsea's former England Under-21 midfielder Steve Sidwell, subject to a medical."

Sidwell endured a miserable time at Stamford Bridge, making just seven Premier League starts for the Blues last season following his move from Reading. He has been told by new Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari that he can leave and will join Villa's pre-season tour of Switzerland once the transfer is completed.

But Sidwell's arrival at Villa Park is unlikely to speed Gareth Barry's protracted move to Liverpool, after O'Neill insisted he will only sell the England midfielder for £18 million pounds.

A good player wasted at Chelsea, is a good move for him

Yes good signing for Villa. Steve's a very strong, box to box Midfield player. He puts himself about and can put in a decent tackle whilst getting forward and chipping in with the odd goal also.

I think hes a decent signing for Villa but i do feel they could and should be aiming to bring in someone better, loosing Barry will be a huge blow although he isnt the most attacking player his passing did create things and Sidwell wont bring much creativity to Villa and Reo-Coker is more defensive and not creative. I think they should of gone for someone more creative than Steve Sidwell although hes a decent player.

I cant see Kaka joining Chelsea, hes already said he would like to stay and there are so many quality players in the Chelsea midfield i cant see him fitting in unless he played as a second striker. Anyway havent Chelsea already come out and denied making a bid for him?

I still feel Chelsea need a proper quality right sided winger, dont get me wrong i think Shaun Wright Phillips is a very good player but if he isnt going to play then why not bring in someone who will.

Would be a good signing for Sampdoria

Quote:
Chelsea forward Andriy Shevchenko could join Sampdoria on loan if the Genoa side sort out his wage demands, Italian media reported on Sunday.

"'Sheva' would be happy to join us, but there are problems around his wages," Sampdoria's general manager Beppe Marotta told the Secolo XIX newspaper. "Many top class players like Sampdoria and a deal is entirely plausible."

The Ukrainian, who has scored just nine times in 47 Premier League games for Chelsea, is seen as the man to end Sampdoria's problems in front of goal. "We have a way to resolve our problems upfront with a figure able to stir up the crowd as well as put the ball in the back of the net," said Marotta.

Shevchenko has endured two difficult seasons at Chelsea after moving from AC Milan for 30 million pounds (37 million euros) in 2006. The 31-year-old has been consistently linked with a move back to Italy, with his former club favourites to secure his signature.

If successful, Sampdoria's move could reap the kind of rewards as that of last year's loan signing Antonio Cassano. Brought in from Real Madrid in August, the fiery Italian scored 10 goals to earn an international call-up to Italy's UEFA EURO 2008 squad.

"We're in the same situation with Sheva as we were with Cassano," Marotta added. "The Cassano move is a difficult thing to replicate, but never say never"
