I'm going to see the USA - Brazil match tonight in San Diego where the S.D. Spirit once played (small but great stadium), it is a sell out and I'm looking forward to it. I'm especially looking forward to seeing Amy Rodriguez who I personally believe has the makings of being a star, and Abby is still sitting on 99 international goals, so hopefully 100 will come tonight (and more). Anyhow, I'll report back later......

Here is an article (link) that has appeared in our local paper that you may find of interest:

(if there is a problem with the link please let me know)...........

Well, it was another hard fought game like Sunday, again with the U.S. coming away with a 1-0 win on Kai's late goal. The evening was a bit somber after Abby was removed from the field in the 31st minute and taken away after her leg was immobilized following a collision on a 50-50 ball.

The report is today that she fractured her tibia and fibula in her left leg and will have surgery to have pins put in. Obviously, she will now miss the '08 Olympics. Not what any U.S. fan or someone who appreciates seeing a player like Abby play the game as she does wants to hear. Crying or Very sad

I feel now that the USA will not win the gold medal. She will be missed greatly. The best they can hope for is a semi final berth. I don't think they have enough power in the attack to cope with Abby's loss.

I will say that they do not get enough credit for there defense, and it is very very good, and you don't get much better than Solo. Lloyd is starting to get more involved offensively, she has a thunderous shot and seems to take command of the team, and, I now believe there is a huge 'stage set' for Kai and Rodriguez to really make a name for themselves and I think they are quite capable of doing so. Are they going to miss Abby, without a doubt, but as Pia said in an interview, the dynamics change for our game and we play on. I'm not saying they will win the gold, but I'm not yet ready to give it up either. Cool

I'm not ready to give up , don't get me wrong. I'm just saying the gold medal looks to be a doubt. But I do believe they will come away with a medal.

I hate to say it but those damn Germans will most likely win gold.
