Despite Newcastle United Jets goal keeper Liam Reddy's desire to transfer, the Queensland Roar will not give up their current No.1 Tom Willis for the 2006/07 Hyundai A-League.
Reddy was hoping to make a move up to the Roar in exchange for Willis, since the new appointment of his former Parramatta Power coach Nick Theodorakopolous to Newcastle - a person which he has a troublesome history with.
Roar coach Miron Bleiberg was quick to re-confirm the club's decision to stand by Willis.
"Late yesterday we received a phone call and an offer from Newcastle Jets regarding Liam Reddy and Tom Willis, but Tom has indicated to us that he wishes to stay at the club," he told AAP
"We will not accept a swap deal because we want to be professional and loyal to our players."
Reddy's relationship with the former Parramatta Power manager was soured in 2003 when Theodorakopolous called for the keeper to be dropped from the Powers' playing list due to poor on-field behaviour.
Reddy will now move to find another club as The Jets say the relationship between the coach and the goalkeeper is impossible to resolve.

Cant really blame then for saying no to Reddy. IMO Willis is a better keeper than Reddy anyway. Im over the moon with Reddy leaving the Jets. I have never liked him even during his days in the old NSL. He has a serious problem with his tempermant and really needs to cool himself down. His hot-headedness cost us 5 or so goals throughout the year which led to losing games.
He doesnt look safe under the high ball either. He has no control over his box which is an absolute must for a keeper.
Hopefully we end up signing Les Piagliacomi from Blackpool
