Northampton Town have given Nottingham Forest permission to talk to their manager Colin Calderwood about the vacancy at the City Ground.
Calderwood, who has just guided Town to promotion, has already been allowed to speak to Championship side Ipswich. "Over the weekend we were approached by Forest, and Colin is flying back from holiday to see what they have to say," Cobblers chairman David Cardoza said. "As we said to Ipswich, I expect the matter to be resolved very quickly." Forest have been without a permanent manager since Gary Megson's departure in February. A superb run of form under joint caretaker bosses Frank Barlow and Ian McParland took them to the brink of the League One play-offs, although the pair both insisted they did not want the job on a full-time basis. Last week, the Cobblers said that there had been no contact from Forest over Calderwood - but the former Tottenham and Scotland defender is now due to hold talks this week. Cardoza added: "Our planning for next season is of paramount importance. "We will not enter into any speculation. We will deal simply with factual information, and we will update our supporters as soon as there is anything else to say." |
